If that (referring to Nirvana) manifests, because all discordant qualities are abandoned, there is no need for effort to attain the Nirvana without remainder. The so-called birth in the realm of neither perception nor non-perception, etc., refers to when those born in the peak of existence, in order to completely abandon afflictions, because there is no path of their own realm, manifest the undefiled pure mind of the realm of nothingness. The so-called at that time their two realms of activity will cease, refers to ceasing from the two realms of activity of the peak of existence and the realm of nothingness, because the places of those two do not exist. The undefiled Dharma does not belong to the realm of activity, because it is not corresponding and becomes the antidote to the realm of activity. The so-called realm of activity of Nirvana also cannot abide, refers to the place of the realm of Nirvana with remainder, and because all realms of activity have ceased, Nirvana is not a realm of activity, because the supramundane consciousness abiding in the body of the realm of activity of Nirvana has matured, there is nothing. The so-called Nirvana is the realm of activity of the Arhats, refers to relying on this, using the word "realm of activity" to express it. The so-called good deeds or bad deeds at the time of death, etc., the good doers gradually lose temperature from the lower part of the body, and the bad doers lose temperature from the upper part of the body. Therefore, if there is no Alaya consciousness, that is also unreasonable, because at that time there is no consciousness anywhere, so it is not. It is impossible for there to be no Alaya consciousness. Thus, after showing that the three kinds of pervasive afflictions cannot exist, it is also shown that for the entering consciousness, worldly purification is impossible, such as from not being free from desire for desires, etc., to the past mind walking in the realm of form, which has been interrupted by other minds in many lifetimes, is also like this. In beginningless samsara, the mind that walks in the realm of form obtained in other lifetimes.

It is not a seed, because in this way, it is separated by many desires of the desire realm in many lifetimes. According to the Sautrāntika school, it does not exist because it has passed. What does not exist cannot be the seed of the mind that operates in the form realm. Similarly, one should apply detachment from desire to everything accordingly. 'Accordingly' means applying whatever is appropriate to whatever. Therefore, from 'Thus' etc., to 'The alaya-vijñāna in which all seeds ripen, passing from one to the next, is the causal condition for the mind of meditative stabilization operating in the form realm, and the virtuous mind arising from practice is the dominant condition,' the parts omitted here will naturally become so, thus concluding the existence of the alaya-vijñāna, and showing that it is the cause, and the virtuous mind arising from the practice of the desire realm is the dominant condition. Because it is a non-common cause and has residual power, it is arranged in order. Now, it is shown that it is impossible for the entering consciousnesses to have transmundane purification, starting from 'Relying on the sound of others and their own proper attention, correct view arises from its cause,' it has already been explained by that word. In this regard, the habit of hearing is not suitable to be held as its seed, because it is not suitable to hold the transmundane seed, just as mentioned above. From 'The alaya-vijñāna in which all seeds ripen' to 'How can it be a seed?' is a question of reproach for impossibility. If one has never seen freedom from disease arising from disease, how can the transmundane mind, like freedom from disease, arise from the alaya-vijñāna, which is like disease? It arises from the seed of the habit of hearing, which is the homogeneous cause of the extremely pure realm of phenomena. This is explaining another cause; the alaya-vijñāna is not its seed. So what is it? It is the extremely pure realm of phenomena of the Buddhas, which is adventitious.

That which is free from the obscuration of afflictions, its homogeneous cause is the Dharma of the teachings, because it is similar when it arises from its cause. Hearing it is listening. What is its habit? It is the seed of the supramundane, uncontaminated mind, because the alaya-vijñana is not homogeneous. What is the habit of hearing? From "also" to "to see what its place is," it indicates another place. Relying on the Bodhi of the Buddhas, which is the stainless and unobstructed wisdom, the Dharma of the teachings such as the Sutras is the place of the habit of hearing. The alaya-vijñana is not the place, because it enters together with it. Therefore, it is said "in which place," which enters into which continuum, it enters into the Vipaka-vijñana in the manner of entering together, like milk and water. Saying "is" means that it wants to arise together with the Vipaka-vijñana, but does not want it to be the seed itself. The seed of the habit of hearing is not the nature of the alaya-vijñana, because it is the seed of its antidote. Saying "is" means that the antidote to the alaya-vijñana is the cause of non-conceptual wisdom, which is a summary statement. For example, even if many diseases enter the body or various poisons are drunk, or if medicinal essence is taken or poison is drunk, although it exists together with the disease for another time, it is not the seed of poison, nor is it the nature of poison, similarly, the habit of hearing that has become a seed is also the same. Among them, "relying on small habits," etc., because the explanation itself is very clear, it is easy to understand. It shows "to be regarded as the seed of the Dharmakaya," and then explains, because it is the antidote to the alaya-vijñana, it is not the nature of the alaya-vijñana, although it is mundane, but because it is the homogeneous cause of the extremely pure Dharmadhatu, it is said "is," although it is contaminated, it is the seed of the supramundane, uncontaminated mind, because there is its collection. Here, the characteristic of realization is called Dharmakaya.
