Those who are bound by the rope of clinging to the ālaya-vijñāna will never wish for it to be destroyed. Because it is accompanied by neutral feeling, there is no inconsistency. Thus, they always wish that these aggregates of suffering would disappear, but they do not wish for no-self, because there is no antidote to the view of self. For the aggregates that depend on other beings, their wishes are also changed by the power of the ālaya-vijñāna. However, one should not be so attached to consciousness, because it is accompanied by the feeling of suffering in the lower realms. Therefore, one should not wish for it to exist in other beings either. Those born in the formless realms from the fourth dhyāna and above, although inconsistent with contaminated pleasure, are bound by clinging to self. Because of clinging to self, they act only through the power of the ālaya-vijñāna, and not through consciousness. Thus, until the antidote arises, the ālaya-vijñāna operates unchangingly. But consciousness is not like that, because it is interrupted in the non-conceptual attainment, the non-conceptual, and the cessation attainment. Consciousness without feeling is not established in either. Similarly, these heretics, although inconsistent with the innate view of self, the innate clinging to self associated with the ālaya-vijñāna does exist, because suddenly hearing a loud noise causes fear to arise. If asked why one does not wish to cling to the aggregates themselves? Because clinging to them also arises from the ālaya-vijñāna. These four aggregates, namely the object and the completely interrupted aggregates, do not depend on the non-conceptual and the non-conceptual attainment. If that is the case, then will arhats also have this? Although it is said to be inconsistent with the view of self, it is not said to have already abandoned it, because arhats have abandoned it, so there is no fault. Or,

For those who are subdued, there is no attachment to the Alaya-vijñana because of that reversal. Therefore, the establishment of the Alaya-vijñana as the Alaya itself is very well established, which is called determination and conclusion. The Dharma is called excellent because it is faultless and has outstanding qualities. Thus, after establishing the categories, in order to fully realize the nature by name alone, the characteristics are established, and it is realized by the characteristics of oneself and what is related. That is, in short, there are three types, which is called the distinction of related characteristics because of the difference between cause and effect. In terms of its own characteristics, it is said that whatever relies on the habits of all pervasively afflicted dharmas, and possesses the complete holding of seeds, that is the nature of the cause of its arising. All pervasively afflicted dharmas such as desire arise together, and after repeatedly experiencing cessation, they desire to arise, and those are the substantial causes for arising. Having the complete holding of seeds is a synonym for saying that it has the complete holding of seeds. Among them, having the complete holding of seeds means that which arises and experiences cessation together with sentient beings, and that which has become like that is called habit, which is capable of completely holding seeds. Because it possesses that, it also becomes the cause of those. The chief and others are not, because they do not possess the complete holding of seeds as described. The immediately preceding conditions and others are also not, because those are helpers and not causes, because the cause of the chief does not possess the complete holding of seeds. The cause of the chief is the seed, and because it holds it completely, the Alaya-vijñana is the cause, but not the helper. If the nature of the cause is mentioned, then is the nature of the cause of its arising not a related nature? It is not, because the power of the condition of things has not arisen, and it is only said to be the cause. The cause itself is the power of action that has already arisen, but not merely the cause, the Alaya-vijñana is the ground.
