If one understands separately, why is the first ground called the Extremely Joyful Ground? This is because at that time, one obtains the ability to truly accomplish the benefit of oneself and others. Furthermore, when the Hearers directly realize Suchness, although they obtain the ability to truly accomplish their own benefit, they cannot accomplish the benefit of others. Therefore, Bodhisattvas do not generate joy like that. Why is it called the Stainless Ground? Because it is one who is naturally virtuous in discipline, and not like the first ground, one who is virtuous in discipline through separate examination. Therefore, in order to दूर (dūra, ,梵文天城体:दूर,梵文罗马拟音:dūra,汉语字面意思:远) remove the stains of discipline that seek liberation, it is one who is naturally virtuous in discipline. Why is the third ground called the Illuminating Ground? This is because he will not separate from entering into meditative stabilization, and without falling from that, the light of the Mahayana Dharma will arise. Why is the fourth ground called the Blazing Wisdom Ground? This is because when he abides in those Dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment, by abiding in that, he burns all afflictions and near afflictions. Why is the fifth ground called the Extremely Difficult to Subdue Ground? Because he must accomplish both the non-conceptualization that truly knows the truth, and the conceptualizations such as worldly crafts and treatises, which are extremely difficult because these two contradict each other, and accomplishing the contradiction of these two is also painful, so it is called the Extremely Difficult to Subdue Ground. Furthermore, why is the sixth ground called the Manifest Ground? This is because he abides in knowing dependent origination, and from then on, with the power of the wisdom that abides in non-conceptualization, in the way called Prajnaparamita, it is neither a completely defiled Dharma nor a completely pure Dharma. The seventh ground is associated with effortful activity, and the eighth ground is one who is inclined towards non-effortful activity. Why is the seventh ground called the Far-Going Ground? This is because it is the end point of the conduct arising from practice.

That, because all characteristics cannot be shaken, it is because it is together with manifestation. Why is the eighth ground called the Immovable Ground? Because there are no characteristics, and all manifestations cannot shake it, because it enters on its own, and because there is no conceptualization. Why is the ninth ground called Good Wisdom? Good wisdom is good intelligence, here individual perfect knowledge, here indicated by the term wisdom, that wisdom is here called Good Wisdom. Why is the tenth ground called Dharma Cloud? Because it focuses on that which gathers all dharmas. Thus, for it, wisdom is like a cloud. The doors of samadhi and dharani are like rainwater. That also resides within that wisdom. Thus, just as the sky is covered by clouds, the wisdom that focuses on mixed dharmas can also make vast obscurations invisible. In order to perfect the Dharmakaya, just as clouds fill the sky, the Dharmakaya also fills the support of the Bodhisattva. Here filling is expansion. Achievement is obtained, that is to say, it should be observed that by practicing these grounds, one will reach the ultimate. How to practice these grounds, practicing them one by one? What will be shown is the five grounds. Again, when practicing shamatha and vipassana, those two are also practiced in five ways, destroying all states of bad rebirth in every moment. What is meant by "destroying" is like this, bad rebirth refers to the seeds of afflictions and cognitive obscurations, which are habits from beginningless time. That collection of obscurations, for every moment of the wisdom of shamatha and vipassana that focuses on mixed dharmas, will weaken its power, or destroy the collection, here it is considered destroying. Again, weakening its power is destroying. Separated from various thoughts, obtaining joy in the joy of Dharma, for the Dharma that is completely uninterrupted in the ten directions

It is to fully understand the appearance, just like properly cleaning sugarcane pulp. The characteristics that are in accordance with the pure aspect, all those that are not conceptually fabricated, all appear on it, called having the necessary complete accomplishment and being extremely perfect, that is, the characteristics that are in accordance with the pure aspect, all those that are not conceptually fabricated, all appear on it. Here, the Buddha himself is considered to have perfected his intention. In order to make the Dharmakaya completely perfect and completely accomplished, taking the cause that is more supreme than the former, called complete perfection on it is the tenth ground. Complete accomplishment is the eleventh ground, so the Buddha completely accomplished the Dharmakaya on the ground. Taking the cause that is more supreme than the former means that in this way, from the cause to the ground of the Buddha, it will enter. Mainly, in the ten grounds, the ten perfections are practiced, so it is said that, just as it arises from the tenth ground, the first ground particularly emphasizes the perfection of generosity, and so on until the tenth ground emphasizes the perfection of wisdom, so the ten perfections are shown in the ten grounds. In this way, all the vastness must also be practiced. In the six perfections, the six perfections are called showing in order, so the perfection of generosity is shown later, and the perfection of wisdom is shown first, etc., is not the case. How are the last four perfections shown? When the sixth perfection is shown above, the four perfections such as the perfection of skillful means are naturally included there. In the ten perfections that are said, the non-discriminating wisdom itself is the perfection of wisdom. Because it is held by what is obtained after it, it becomes the perfection of skillful means, etc., which is different from it. Therefore, for the latter, these are to be practiced. When the perfection of skillful means is proclaimed, there are statements such as being common to all sentient beings, etc. Among them, commonality refers to giving the accumulated roots of virtue to sentient beings as they are.
