Just that is completely clear. It is called "entering into the characteristic of the meaning that appears as the expression of mind," which means that whatever meaning there is, it is merely a universal examination, and thus it will enter into universal examination. It is called "merely entering into the nature of the consciousness of self-nature," which means that through those expressions of mind, merely holding onto consciousness itself, it will enter into the power of others. Fifth Chapter. It is called "there is no opportunity for all things that appear as meaning to arise," which means that if even the form of mere consciousness does not arise, then what need is there to mention the arising of the appearance of the form of meaning? Therefore, even if it is examined as mere consciousness, it will become meaning. Therefore, other than that, suchness will become manifest. That state cannot be expressed, because it is to be known by each individual themselves. At that time, the object and subject of that Bodhisattva are equal, therefore equal wisdom, non-discrimination, arises. Among them, the subject is wisdom, and the object is suchness. Those becoming equality is a synonym for grasping as emptiness and abiding without grasping. The absence of discrimination between what is grasped and what grasps is non-discrimination. Thus, one enters into the perfectly established nature. It is called, "When one abides in the name of non-discrimination towards all things," which means that from the synonym "What is its name, how many forms are there?" the distinctions of its name are shown by segmented verses. Among them, the names of phenomena are form, feeling, eye, and so on. The names of persons are Buddha, spiritual friend, follower with faith, and so on. Again, the names of phenomena are the sutras and so on. The names of meanings are the meanings that depend on those phenomena. The condensed name is like "sentient being." The expanded name is like stating each of those individually. The names of lineages are the mother letters of the alphabet. The impure names are those of individual ordinary beings. The pure names are those of learners. The ultimate names are those that focus on mixed phenomena, that is, the son of the tenth-ground Bodhisattva. Among them, all meanings

is the object of wisdom that focuses on mixed dharmas. Such an aspect is the realm of the name of a Bodhisattva. To be born into the lineage of the Thus-Gone One means that one does not cut off the lineage of the Buddha. To have equanimity towards all sentient beings means thinking that all sentient beings should be freed from sorrow just as I am. To have equanimity with all Bodhisattvas means to have attained equanimity with them in this way. To have equanimity with all Buddhas means that one has attained the state of the Dharma body of the Buddhas; by attaining that, one has attained equanimity with all Buddhas. The knowledge of tranquility and insight means the knowledge that is spoken of as tranquility and insight. Regarding "having abandoned the causes of the seeds of the all-ground consciousness along with their conditions," "along with their conditions" is a synonym for "along with their conditions," meaning that the all-ground consciousness possesses the seeds of all defiled dharmas. Furthermore, stating the conditions means showing the object conditions of those seeds. Having done so, it will be shown that those seeds have been abandoned along with their causes and effects. What is the necessity of what is attained afterwards? If it is said that by non-discrimination all obscurations are abandoned and all Buddha-dharmas are accomplished, then the dharmas of effects along with their causes cannot be shown by that, because it is non-discrimination. Therefore, by what is attained afterwards, the dharmas of cause and effect are shown, because it is a basis and, like a magician performing magic, it becomes non-inverted. "Everything arises from the all-ground consciousness" means all that arises from the cause of the all-ground consciousness. All the characteristics of consciousness, that is, from what has become the cause of consciousness, like performing magic, arise without inversion from what is attained afterwards, so it also shows at all times. Entering into Suchness at all times is because it is in accordance with the aspect of ascertainment, therefore, that of it.
