Just as in the case of falling into something, names are not necessarily non-existent. Therefore, if one believes that names and things are exactly the same, then the thing possesses the nature of both, which will lead to contradiction. If one thinks this way, three faults will also arise, because the meanings of names with characteristics such as habits will become the same. When expressing this meaning in verse, "to be established" means that other-powered and completely imputed become one. The verses such as "phenomena are based on non-existence" are to make students believe through examples such as illusions, because the student raised two contradictions, doubting that "phenomena are based on non-existence, and purity without defilements is contradictory," so the analogy of illusion is used to explain. Just as an elephant conjured by illusion, although non-existent, can still be an object, so even if it is not truly existent, it can be observed as an object. Just as the nature of the sky is clear and bright, although it is not obscured, just as it is said that the sky is pure simply because there are no obscurations, so too, because the nature of phenomena is clear and bright, there are originally no defilements, but because of the obscuration of sudden stains, they appear as impure, and without these stains, they should be regarded as pure. If the other-powered appears as the Bhagavan and ultimately does not exist, then why would the nature of the other-powered not completely disappear? If the other-powered does not exist, then the perfectly established nature will also not exist, because the perfectly established nature is liberated from all defilements. Therefore, if these two do not exist, then why would it not lead to the non-existence of everything? To explain this, it is said that "the fault of the non-existence of all defilements and purity will arise," and so on. Because all defilements and purity are objects. Therefore, if someone believes that these two do not exist like objects, then he is equivalent to denying the existence of all defilements and purity. Fourth chapter, self-nature purity refers to the essence of self-

The nature of being unpurified is that it exists as suchness. Because all sentient beings have a common characteristic, all phenomena are said to have the essence of the Tathagata. "Being purified without defilement" means that this suchness itself is free from the defilements of afflictions and cognitive obscurations. Therefore, what is distinguished by the pure suchness is the Buddha himself. "The path to attain it is purified" means that the path to attain it is also purified, which is the aspect of enlightenment, such as the four mindfulnesses, and the six perfections, etc. "The object of generating it is purified" means that the phenomena of the aspect of enlightenment are both the generator and the object of focus, so it is the object of generation. It is also purified, so it is called "the object of generating it is purified." This is the teaching belonging to the twelve branches of scripture, such as the Sutra Pitaka. Because if the teaching that is to be expressed is the completely imputed, it will become the cause of all afflictions. If it is dependent on others, it will become a non-true meaning. Because the Dharmadhatu is a pure homogeneous cause, it is not untrue because it is liberated from both, but arises from the perfectly established reality. Furthermore, any of the four aspects that are taught is the Mahayana, which shows the nature of the perfectly established reality. It should be understood in this way. Among them, the first two are the perfectly established reality of the unchanging perfectly established reality. The latter is the non-inverted perfectly established reality. These meanings are revealed by the following verses. "Manifestation of arising dependent on illusion, etc." means to contemplate the dependent arising. That is, what is shown from "all phenomena are like illusions" to "like manifestations" should be understood as showing the nature of dependent arising. "Manifestation of non-existence based on imputation" means from "formless" to "dharma".
