That is all dharmas, and it is also only consciousness, therefore it is called the cause of only consciousness. The cause of the arising of the eye, etc., is the nature of the object. Saying "because that is the cause of the arising of view," it means that that itself is the view, it is its view. When it appears as the view, the view of mind consciousness becomes the cause of continuous existence, therefore it is said to act as a basis. Saying "by knowing the cause of the dissimilar consciousness," the cause of the dissimilar consciousness is things. Because it knows, it is consciousness. Saying "objectless consciousness with an object," it means that even without an object, consciousness arises, that is the view. For example, the past, etc., are like objects. Even without effort, it will not be reversed, it should be understood in this way. Saying "by knowing in accordance with the three consciousnesses," it means that because things will change in this way, even if it does not appear, the antidote will arise, therefore it will not be reversed, it should be understood in this way. Saying "by knowing in accordance with the three consciousnesses," it means that by knowing that thing, one can know in accordance with the three consciousnesses. Meditators, and Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, means Hearers and Solitary Buddhas. Saying "having obtained control over the mind," it means having obtained the ability of the mind. Saying "due to the power of faith, things appear in this way," it means that if one has faith in the nature of earth, it will also change in this way. Similarly, for fire, etc., one should also view things in this way. Saying "having obtained tranquility," it means having obtained samadhi. Saying "for those who are diligent in the Dharma of higher seeing," it means for those who are diligent in practicing the Sutras, etc. Saying "merely by directing the mind, things appear," it means that for the same thing, no matter how one directs the mind, many different aspects will appear. Saying "having obtained non-discriminating wisdom," it means that if the things that appear to the six are the same as what actually exists, then it will become without non-discriminating wisdom. Even so, it exists.

Therefore, even in (this case), it must be acknowledged that the essence of things is emptiness. If it is said that "consciousness-only is the place where things appear," it means that even though things do not exist, consciousness itself is the cause of things appearing. If it is said that consciousness-only is other-powered, then how is it other-powered? Because it itself is the object to be grasped. Therefore, it is other-powered. If it is called "other," it is because it arises from its own cause and cannot remain at the moment of arising. Because it itself grasps, it is the other-powered that is called "other." The so-called "abiding in this" refers to the other-powered consciousness-only that is shown. The so-called "no thing" means "non-existence." The so-called "appearance" refers to grasping things. The so-called "how is that" and "why" are like what was just said. The so-called "having immeasurable forms" refers to the consciousness of mind that focuses on all objects. The so-called "conceptualization" refers to what is conceptualized by the consciousness of mind. The so-called "is the reason for the occurrence of reversal" means that the nature of the object becomes the reason for the arising of the reversal of things. The so-called "no self-nature" means that there is no self-nature of it. The so-called "focusing only on conceptualization" refers to focusing only on the consciousness of delusion. The so-called "is the nature of complete non-existence" refers to the nature of the non-self-nature of conceptualization. The so-called "how is that" and "why" are like the other-powered. The so-called "unchanging" means non-deception. Like the non-deceptive samsara and nirvana. The so-called "is a pure object" and "is the best of all virtuous dharmas" means that the nature of the pure object is the perfectly established, because it is the best, like the place of perfect completion. The so-called "how does conceptualization conceptualize" means that consciousness is called conceptualization. To this, conceptualization depends on the other-powered. In what way does it conceptualize, what is shown is the treatise of grasping with names and so on, that is, the other-powered.
