It is the earth element, but it is thought that it is not the ālaya-vijñāna. Furthermore, it is said that those minds should not be good, non-good, and indeterminate, because it is good, so for the time being there is no non-good. Indeterminate is related to conduct, crafts, and emanations, and for those, emanation is also non-existent. However, if the vipāka is indeterminate, then it is the ālaya-vijñāna, because there are no five indeterminates. If that mind is good, then it will be in accordance with the roots of good such as non-attachment. If that is the case, if the mind does not exist, then when the afflicted mind-base transforms and becomes good, relying on and focusing on that good mind, how can the three-aggregate contact arise? If contact exists, then there will also be no cessation samāpatti, because it (mind and mental factors) has not ceased. Furthermore, some people think that the good mind generates happiness, so it is good. Even if the force of the mind's application that leads to samāpatti is good, it is not simultaneously in accordance with habitual tendencies, etc., because the accumulation of power is called accumulation. Therefore, although that is good, it is the power of generating the three aggregates, just as a similar cause produces a similar result. If one understands this, then whatever mind that combines with whatever is good, it is in accordance with the roots of good, and what is produced by it is also in accordance with the roots of good such as non-attachment. Therefore, if one says, for what reason do habitual tendencies, etc., that are contrary to the application of samāpatti or samāpatti not enter, while good does enter? No one would want that, because the result of a similar cause, and all phenomena related to combination will be related to combination. When what is related to consciousness also becomes an object related to ālaya-vijñāna, how can ālaya-vijñāna not exist, and what is not ālaya-vijñāna

It will also remain in the same way, just like milk and water mixed together, which is shown by the metaphor. Furthermore, how can the alaya-consciousness, which is free from worldly desires, abandon the habits of afflictions on a single meditative ground, and on the meditative ground, increase the habits of virtue, becoming a basis of support? Similarly, it should also be viewed in this way that entering into cessation is not without consciousness, which establishes that alaya-consciousness exists. Third Chapter. What the Blessed One said, that this consciousness has not left the body, does not refer to the other, the maturation consciousness, because the consciousness of entering into cessation has been abandoned and will not arise, because it is peaceful. Also, if someone arises from samadhi, that consciousness will also arise, therefore it is said that it has not left the body. If this is understood, it is unreasonable. According to their view, if the maturation consciousness connects continuously without interruption, then it cannot be established, and it will not arise even after arising from samadhi. If someone thinks that it is not alaya-consciousness, but rather cessation together with consciousness, is with mind, that is also unreasonable. Saying this is also unreasonable. What the Blessed One said, bodily action ceases, mental action is breathing in and out, verbal action is discrimination and investigation, mental action is intention and feeling. If discrimination and investigation cease, speech will not occur, similarly, if mental action ceases, mind will not occur. If, like at the time of entering samadhi, bodily action ceases, but the body still exists, similarly, if mental action ceases, mind still exists, if one thinks like that, that is also unreasonable. Because the existence of the body also has other causes.

Hey! The bodily formation spoken of by the Blessed One is like this: food, the life force, and consciousness. Even if breathing and arising do not exist, it will still remain. For the mind, there is no other formation. If the consciousness of the mind, which abides, does not exist, then the state of no-mind will be attained. The Blessed One wants to call the ripening consciousness as consciousness, and therefore also believes that when waking up, all seeds will produce the consciousness of action. Also, for what is considered to be the seed of all phenomena that arise after form and mind, the previous moment of form is the cause of the later moment of form, and the seed of consciousness is consciousness itself. Then, how can the form aggregate of those who die and are reborn from the formless realm, even if it has been destroyed for a long time, become the cause of arising? Those who die and are reborn from the realm of non-perception, and when arising from the cessation attainment, even if their mind has been destroyed for a long time, how can that mind become the cause of the arising of mind? If this is the case, then the Arhat's Nirvana without remainder is also unreasonable, because the causes of form and mind are not exhausted. It should be seen that from the immediately preceding condition of the past, from the first moment of form, form arises, and from consciousness, consciousness arises, not from the causal condition. In this way, the existence of the Alaya consciousness is established. How it is not reasonable to become a support by merely abiding in the entering consciousness is shown by three verses: The mind called the Bodhisattva's good mind is the consciousness of the mind that is in accordance with the antidote, which is good, and is the meaning of being transcendental. The one called abandoning the five consciousnesses is the abandoning of the five consciousnesses, such as eye consciousness. The one called excluding from that refers to other defiled consciousnesses of the mind, just as good is spoken of in order to eliminate contaminated non-virtue with contaminated virtue, it is also other than that.
