With the mind of the formless realm, one also knows the formless dharmas that operate in one's own realm, as well as the unpolluted dharmas. With the unpolluted mind, one also knows the dharmas that operate in the three realms, as well as the unpolluted dharmas. Why are the skandhas arranged in order? It is because of the very place of consciousness, namely the four places of consciousness, the nature of the place, and consciousness. Moreover, the nose is the basis of what has been done, so one experiences it as it is in form. Just as one feels, so one perceives. Just as one perceives, so one thinks. Just as one thinks, so one becomes conscious, and one goes near to this and that. Moreover, it is for the sake of complete defilement and purification. Where there is complete defilement and purification, and experience, and taking of signs, and manifestation, by what is there complete defilement and purification, and what is completely defiled and purified. The order of the skandhas is shown in this way. Why are the realms arranged in order? It is because they are in accordance with worldly speech. What is in accordance with worldly speech? In that, at first, they only look at each other. Relying on looking, they speak universally. After that, they enjoy bathing and arising and garlands. After that, they fully enjoy good things and drinks. After that, they fully enjoy beds and cushions and women. In all, the realm of mind is the one that distinguishes. Having made the inner realms the cause, the outer realms are arranged in order. After that, the realms of consciousness. Just as the order of the realms is, so is the order of the sense bases. What is the meaning of skandha? Whatever is form, whether it is past, future, present, internal, external, coarse, subtle, inferior, superior, far, near, all of that is gathered together and piled up, therefore it is called the skandha of form. It is the same up to the skandha of consciousness, like a pile of wealth. Also, suffering.

It is solely for the sake of the nature of being extremely vast. As it is said, "This great heap of suffering will arise." It is like a pile of wood. Also, it is for the sake of carrying the burden of all defilements, just like carrying a burden on the shoulders. What is the meaning of dhātu (element)? It is the meaning of the seed of all dharmas. Also, it is the meaning of holding one's own nature. Also, it is the meaning of holding the entities of cause and effect. Also, it is the meaning of holding together all aspects of dharmas. What is the meaning of āyatana (source)? It is the meaning of the gate of the arising of consciousness. Form is like a solidified bubble. Feeling is like a bubble on water. Perception is like a mirage. Formations are like the trunk of a banana tree. Consciousness is like an illusion. Regarding what was said, why is it said that form is like a solidified bubble, up to consciousness is like an illusion? It is because of selflessness, because of impurity, because of having little taste, because of being unstable and without essence. What is the detailed distinction between the skandhas, dhātus, and āyatanas? In summary: Real existence is what is knowable, such as form, etc., contaminated arising, etc., past and conditions, etc. How, how many, and why? How are the skandhas, dhātus, and āyatanas real? How many are real? Why are they considered real? Saying that it is the domain of the senses, and not relying on anything else, is real existence. Everything is real existence. In order to abandon the attachment to the appearance of self as real, it is considered real. How is it nominally existent? How many are nominally existent? Why is it considered nominally existent? Saying that it is the domain of the senses, and relying on something else, is nominal existence. Everything is nominal existence. In order to abandon the attachment to the appearance of self as nominal, it is considered nominally existent. How is it conventionally existent? How many are conventionally existent? Why is it considered conventionally existent? The object of becoming all defilements is conventional existence.
