是摄于寂灭的止息,为了利益一切有情和安乐而安住。以名相来说是怎样的呢?即是:无余断、决定断、清净、灭尽、离欲、止息、寂静、没落等等。为什么称为无余断呢?为了剩余词句的缘故。为什么称为决定断呢?为了舍弃一切缠缚的缘故。为什么称为清净呢?为了究竟圆满习气的缘故。为什么称为灭尽呢?为了以对治道见道而分离的缘故。为什么称为离欲呢?为了以对治道修道而分离的缘故。为什么称为止息呢?因为从彼以后,其果苦不再生起的缘故。为什么称为寂静呢?因为于现法中,其果苦不再流转的缘故。为什么称为没落呢?因为蕴的残余彻底坏灭的缘故。为什么称为非造作呢?为了远离三种相状的缘故。为什么称为难见呢?为了远远超出肉眼和天眼的行境的缘故。为什么称为不动摇呢?为了远离迁变的缘故。为什么称为不屈服呢?为了远离三种渴爱的缘故。为什么称为不死呢?为了远离蕴魔的缘故。为什么称为无漏呢?为了远离烦恼魔的缘故。为什么称为处所呢?因为是无罪快乐的基础的缘故。为什么称为洲呢?因为完全脱离三界的缘故。为什么称为救护呢?为了遣除一切损害的缘故。为什么称为怙主呢?因为在那里作意和修习是具有果的基础处所的缘故。为什么称为亲友呢?因为是趋向圣者之最胜的所依处所的缘故。为什么称为无死无迁呢?为了远离生死的缘故。

English

It is the cessation that is included in Nirvana, for the sake of benefiting all sentient beings and abiding in happiness. What are its aspects? They are: complete abandonment, definite abandonment, purification, exhaustion, detachment, cessation, pacification, and disappearance, etc. Why is it called complete abandonment? Because of the remaining words. Why is it called definite abandonment? Because of abandoning all entanglements. Why is it called purification? Because it perfects the latent tendencies. Why is it called exhaustion? Because it is separated by the path of seeing, which is the antidote. Why is it called detachment? Because it is separated by the path of meditation, which is the antidote. Why is it called cessation? Because from then on, its result, suffering, does not arise. Why is it called pacification? Because in this very life, its result, suffering, does not flow. Why is it called disappearance? Because the remaining aggregates are completely destroyed. Why is it called unconditioned? Because it is free from the three characteristics. Why is it called difficult to see? Because it is far beyond the range of the physical and divine eyes. Why is it called unmoving? Because it is free from change and movement. Why is it called unsubmissive? Because it is free from the three cravings. Why is it called deathless? Because it is free from the demon of the aggregates. Why is it called without outflows? Because it is free from the demon of afflictions. Why is it called a place? Because it is the basis of faultless joy. Why is it called an island? Because it is completely separated from the three realms. Why is it called protection? Because it repels all harm. Why is it called a protector? Because contemplating and practicing there is the basis of a place where there are fruits. Why is it called a friend? Because it is the basis of going to the supreme state of the noble ones. Why is it called without death or transmigration? Because it is free from birth and death.

Why is it called being without disease? Because it is free from all poverty of desire. Why is it called being completely without affliction? Because it is free from sorrow and lamentation, suffering, discomfort, and turmoil. Why is it called happiness? Because it is the basis for abiding without destruction. Why is it called peace? Because it is for the sake of beneficial things. Why is it called the basis of happiness? Because it is the basis of true happiness. Why is it called becoming virtuous? Furthermore, the characteristics of the truth of cessation should be understood as fourfold: the characteristic of cessation, the characteristic of peace, the characteristic of excellence, and the characteristic of definite emergence. Why is it called the characteristic of cessation? Because it is free from afflictions. Why is it called the characteristic of peace? Because it is free from suffering. Why is it called the characteristic of excellence? Because it is the nature of purity and happiness. Why is it called the characteristic of definite emergence? Because it is the basis of permanence and benefit. What is the truth of the path?
