is the practice. Accumulation is the increase of habits. Among what is said as "karma to be definitely experienced," what is "definite"? It is the karma that is definite to be done, the definite ripening to be experienced, and the definite time. Among them, the result of the maturation of the ten non-virtuous paths of action is in the evil destinies. The result concordant with the cause is, in accordance with each one, not obtaining a human body and complete enjoyment. The dominant result is, in accordance with each one, not obtaining external objects. Furthermore, as it is said in the sutra, the result of the maturation of the ten virtuous paths of action is among gods and humans. The result concordant with the cause is, in those very ones, in accordance with each one, the body and enjoyment are complete. The dominant result is, in those very ones, in accordance with each one, the external objects are complete. Virtuous and non-virtuous karma are to be known as the karma that projects birth into happy and unhappy destinies and that which completes it. Projection is that by which maturation is projected. Completion is that by which, upon being born, one experiences what is desired and undesired. There is also karma by which one karma projects one body. There is also karma by which one karma projects many bodies. There is also karma by which many karmas project one body. There is also karma by which many karmas project many bodies. How do sentient beings who possess many initial karmas experience maturation in sequence? In that case, whichever becomes very heavy will mature first. Or whichever becomes manifest at the time of death. Or whichever one has become accustomed to. Or whichever was first practiced will mature first. Among what is said as meritorious karma, non-meritorious karma, and unwavering karma, what is meritorious? It is the virtue that is greatly associated with desire. What is non-meritorious? It is non-virtue. What is unwavering karma? It is the virtue that is greatly associated with form and formlessness. From what is said, "Conditioned by ignorance are the formations of merit, non-merit, and the unwavering," how are merit, non-merit, and the unwavering

If it is said that actions arise from the cause of ignorance, then there are two kinds of ignorance: ignorance of the ripening of fruits and ignorance of the meaning of just that. Ignorance of the ripening of fruits causes the arising of unwholesome actions. Ignorance of the meaning of just that is merit and immovability (good deeds). Killing is combined with attachment, hatred, and delusion, and hatred brings it to completion. Just as with killing, so it is with harsh speech and harmful intent. Taking what is not given is combined with attachment, hatred, and delusion, and attachment brings it to completion. Just as with taking what is not given, so it is with sexual misconduct with regard to desire and covetousness. Lying is combined with attachment, hatred, and delusion, and any of the three can bring it to completion. Just as with lying, so it is with divisive speech and idle chatter. Wrong view is combined with attachment, hatred, and delusion, and delusion brings it to completion. There are common actions and uncommon actions. There are powerful actions and weak actions. What is a common action? It is that which distinguishes the vessel world. What is an uncommon action? It is that which distinguishes the sentient being world. Furthermore, when it is said that something arises from the mutual influence of sentient beings, there is also action that arises from the mutual influence of sentient beings. For example, a sentient being who does not engage in close behavior such as looking at other sentient beings is not common. What is a powerful action? It is any non-virtuous action that arises from the mind of a person with the power of an antidote. Because the power of the antidote is generated, a sentient being who would have experienced suffering in hell will experience it in this life, or one who would have experienced it in this life will not experience it. Therefore, all actions arising from the antidote and all virtuous actions arising from the mind are powerful. Understanding this, the Blessed One said that the mind of the noble Hearer is extremely cultivated and immeasurable.

Therefore, for the vast, one should not lead those determined karmas. One should not let them abide therein. He will not be counted among them, thus it is said. If the non-virtuous karma arising from the mind of a person with weak antidotal power, and any karma arising from the mind that is certain to ripen, if it is not abandoned and not fully known, that is powerful. This is the intention here. Furthermore, whatever non-virtue is highly associated with desire, what has been previously habituated, what abides in its place, and whatever is by nature incapable of transcending suffering, that is now inherently powerful. Through the manifestation of field and mind, one should also recognize that as a powerful karma. Furthermore, one should recognize powerful karma through nine aspects: field, object, nature, basis, attention, thought, friend, repeated action, and also by many people, it is powerful. The opposite of this is powerless karma. The Blessed One said, "If someone says, 'If a person performs karma in such and such a way, etc., he will experience ripening in that way.' If that is the case, then one will not abide in the Brahmacarya, and the opportunity to truly cease suffering and bring suffering to an end will not appear." Or, if someone says, "If a person performs karma that will be experienced in such and such a way, etc., he will experience ripening in that way.' If that is the case, then he will abide in the Brahmacarya, and he will truly cease suffering, and the opportunity to bring suffering to an end will appear." What is the intention of what the Blessed One said? Here, the Blessed One prohibits the ripening of karma associated with happiness, which is associated with happiness. That associated with suffering, is associated with suffering; that associated with neither suffering nor happiness, is associated with neither suffering nor happiness, is also the same. Furthermore, he allows the ripening that is associated with happiness and leads to experiencing happiness, which is happiness. Experiencing suffering
