It is the act. Depending on desire, hatred, and ignorance, the body commits misdeeds, and speech and mind commit misdeeds; these are called misdeeds. Furthermore, because of the cause of even a small amount of bad things, because of completely thinking about the cause of things to be harmed, and because of clinging to wrong teachings, sentient beings commit misdeeds. Therefore, desire, hatred, and ignorance are called the roots of misdeeds. There are three outflows: the outflow of desire, the outflow of existence, and the outflow of ignorance. The mind scatters and flows out, and because it flows out by looking outward, it is the outflow of desire. Because it flows out by looking inward, it is the outflow of existence. Because the outflow is the place of both, it is the outflow of ignorance. There are three kinds of poverty: poverty due to desire, and poverty due to hatred and ignorance. Depending on desire, hatred, and ignorance, the poverty of desiring the resources of existence causes harm; these are called poverty. There are three kinds of complete torment: complete torment of desire, and complete torment of hatred and ignorance. Depending on desire, hatred, and ignorance, one improperly grasps at characteristics and grasps at manifest signs. Because of grasping at characteristics and grasping at manifest signs, the body will be completely tormented, and the mind will also be completely tormented; these are called complete torment. There are three kinds of disturbance: disturbance of desire, and disturbance of hatred and ignorance. Depending on desire, hatred, and ignorance, in places where one is happy and particularly attached, if there is change and alteration, then sorrow, chanting mantras, suffering, displeasure, and disturbances will occur; these are called disturbances. There are three kinds of strife: strife of desire, and strife of hatred and ignorance. Depending on desire, hatred, and ignorance, cutting off with annihilation, taking up weapons, taking up sticks, fighting, exposing flaws, arguing, giving alms

Those young ones are called struggles. There are three kinds of diseases: the disease of desire, and the diseases of hatred and ignorance. Relying on desire, hatred, and ignorance, being attached to what is not Dharma, being tormented by great suffering; being attached due to disharmony, being tormented by great suffering; being tormented by great suffering arising from false Dharma, these are called diseases. There are three kinds of forest fires: the forest fire of desire, and the forest fires of hatred and ignorance. Relying on desire, hatred, and ignorance, clinging to the conditioned phenomena that are the root of existence, causing various forms of bodies to manifestly arise in the cycle of the five realms, these are called forest fires. There are three kinds of obstructions: the obstruction of desire, and the obstructions of hatred and ignorance. Relying on desire, hatred, and ignorance, not engaging in virtue due to attachment to the body, being attached to enjoyment, with uncultivated intelligence, dwelling like a ghost, being content with just a little, not engaging in virtue, these are called obstructions. Regarding entering wrongly, what is entering wrongly? Desire is the wrong understanding of objects and views. Anger is the same as desire. Pride is the wrong understanding of beings and views. The view of the aggregates, the view of extremes, and wrong views are the wrong understanding of knowable things. Holding views as supreme and holding vows and asceticism as supreme are the wrong understanding of views. Doubt is the wrong understanding of antidotes. Ignorance is the wrong understanding of everything. All ten afflictions are also wrongly understood in terms of suffering and its origin, with respect to their causes and fundamental basis. All ten afflictions also enter wrongly with respect to cessation and the path, by generating fear towards them. Regarding the realms, what are the realms? It is all three realms except for anger. Anger is associated with desire. Desire is associated with pleasure, joy, and equanimity in the desire realm. Desire

How it is in the desire realm, so it is in the first and second dhyanas. In the third dhyana, it is accompanied by pleasure and equanimity. Above that, it is only accompanied by equanimity. Anger is accompanied by suffering, displeasure, and equanimity. Pride in the desire realm is accompanied by pleasure and equanimity. In the first and second dhyanas, it is accompanied by pleasure, delight, and equanimity. In the third dhyana, it is accompanied by pleasure and equanimity. Above that, it is only accompanied by equanimity. How pride is, so are the view of the aggregates, the view of holding to extremes, the view of holding views as supreme, and the view of holding morality and asceticism as supreme. Wrong view in the desire realm is accompanied by pleasure, displeasure, and equanimity. In the form and formless realms, it is accompanied by whatever feeling there is. Doubt in the desire realm is accompanied by displeasure and equanimity. In the form and formless realms, it is accompanied by whatever feeling there is. Ignorance is that which is accompanied by all afflictions, therefore, wherever there is whatever feeling, it is said that there is that which is accompanied by it. What is unmixed ignorance? It is that which in the desire realm is accompanied by displeasure and equanimity. Above that, it is accompanied by whatever feeling there is. Why are all afflictions accompanied by equanimity? Because they rely on dwelling in the ordinary, and thus lead to destruction. Attachment in the desire realm is accompanied by the six aggregates of consciousness. How attachment is, so are anger and ignorance. In the form realm, it is accompanied by the four aggregates of consciousness. In the formless realm, it is accompanied by the aggregate of mind consciousness. How attachment is, so is ignorance. Pride, views, and doubt are always accompanied by the aggregate of mind consciousness. Attachment, anger, and pride in the desire realm are the side of things.
