Those places are other-empty, and the Brahma's world's place is other-empty. This is called the thousandfold world. This emptiness of the thousandfold world is called the two-thousandfold intermediate world. This emptiness of the two-thousandfold intermediate world is called the three-thousandfold great thousand world. The three-thousandfold great thousand world is completely surrounded by a great environment. This three-thousandfold great thousand world is simultaneously destroyed and formed. For example, if a rain of the size of a yoke falls, the gaps between the rains falling in the sky, without any interval, are like the gaps between the destruction and formation of the eastern world, without any interval. Some are destroyed, some are destroyed and remain, some are formed, and some are formed and remain. Just as the east is, so are all ten directions. The sentient beings' world that is, and the container world that is, born from karma and afflictions, and arising from the power of karma and afflictions, all of this is the truth of suffering. Those completely pure world realms are not the truth of suffering, as they are not born from karma and afflictions, nor do they arise from the power of karma and afflictions, but rather they arise from the power of aspirations and roots of virtue. Therefore, since they are the realm of activity of the Buddhas, those places of birth are inconceivable, and they are not even the object of meditation for meditators, let alone the realm of logicians. Furthermore, birth is suffering, aging is suffering, sickness is suffering, death is suffering, encountering the unpleasant is suffering, separation from the pleasant is suffering, not finding what one desires is also suffering, in short, the five aggregates of clinging are suffering. Why is birth suffering? Because it is the very suffering of anxiety, and because it is the place of other sufferings besides that.

English

It is so. Why is aging suffering? Because the deterioration of old age itself is suffering. Why is sickness suffering? Because the deterioration of the body itself is suffering. Why is death suffering? Because the end of life itself is suffering. Why is encountering unpleasant things suffering? Because encountering itself is suffering. Why is separation from beloved things suffering? Because separation itself is suffering. Why is it also suffering when one seeks what one desires but does not find it? Because unfulfilled hope itself is suffering. Why, in short, are the five aggregates of clinging suffering? Because being a source of suffering itself is suffering. These are eight, but can be reduced to six. Although there are six, they can also become eight, namely: the suffering of doubt, the suffering of change, the suffering of encounter, the suffering of separation, the suffering of unfulfilled hope, and the suffering of the source of suffering. If it is said that there are three natures of suffering, do these three natures of suffering encompass the eight types of suffering? Or do the eight types of suffering encompass the three natures of suffering? One encompasses the other, namely: the suffering of birth, the suffering of aging, the suffering of sickness, the suffering of death, and the suffering of encountering unpleasant things, what is said here fully reveals the nature of the suffering of suffering. The suffering of separation from beloved things, and seeking what one desires but not finding it is also suffering, what is said here fully reveals the nature of the suffering of change. In short, the five aggregates of clinging are suffering, what is said here fully reveals the nature of the suffering of conditioned existence. Suffering in conventional truth, and suffering in ultimate truth, if it is said like this, then what is suffering in conventional truth? What is suffering in ultimate truth? From the suffering of birth to seeking what one desires but not finding it, this is suffering in conventional truth. In short, the five aggregates of clinging are suffering, what is said here is suffering in ultimate truth.
