Having strengthened the meaning of aggregates, having strengthened the meaning of realms and sources, all of these are mutually contained. What is contained by state? The aggregates, realms, and sources of the state of happiness are contained by themselves. Similarly, the state of suffering, and the state of neither suffering nor happiness, are also contained by themselves. What is contained by companionship? The aggregate of form with its retinue, which becomes a companion to other aggregates, are contained by the containment of companionship. Similarly, it should also be understood for other aggregates, realms, and sources. What is contained by direction? Whatever aggregates, realms, and sources are in the eastern direction, those are contained by themselves. Similarly, it should also be understood for other directions. What is contained by time? The past aggregates, realms, and sources are contained by themselves. Similarly, the future and the present occurrences are also contained by themselves. What is contained by one part? Whatever phenomena are contained by aggregates, realms, and sources, whatever is contained by any one of them, should be understood as contained by one part. What is contained by all? Whatever phenomena are contained by aggregates, realms, and sources, whatever is contained completely without omission, should be understood as contained by all. One What does one contain? How many realms and sources does the aggregate of form contain? It contains ten realms and ten sources, and also contains one part of one realm and one source. How many realms and sources does the aggregate of feeling contain? It contains one part of one realm and one source. Just as the aggregate of feeling, so too are the aggregates of perception and formation. How many realms and sources does the aggregate of consciousness contain? It contains seven realms and one source. How many aggregates and sources does the eye realm contain? It contains one part of the aggregate of form and one source. The eye realm is like

Just as with the eye-element, so it is with the ear-element, the nose-element, the tongue-element, and the body-element. How many aggregates and sense-fields are included in the form-element? It is included in one aspect of the form aggregate and one sense-field. Just as the form-element is, so are the sound-element, the smell-element, the taste-element, and the touch-element. How many aggregates and sense-fields are included in the eye-consciousness-element? It is included in the consciousness aggregate and one aspect of the mind sense-field. Just as the eye-consciousness-element is, so are the ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind-consciousness-elements. How many aggregates and sense-fields are included in the dharma-element? It is included in three aggregates, one aspect of one aggregate, and one sense-field. How many aggregates and elements are included in the eye sense-field? It is included in one aspect of the form aggregate and one element. Just as the eye sense-field is, so are the ear, nose, tongue, and body sense-fields, and the form, sound, smell, taste, and touch sense-fields. How many aggregates and elements are included in the mind sense-field? It is included in one aggregate and seven elements. How many aggregates and elements are included in the dharma sense-field? It is included in three aggregates, one aspect of one aggregate, and one element. Similarly, other than these, whatever dharma aggregates are taught, and whatever elements and sense-fields are taught, and those that are not taught in this way, such as: truly existent, nominally existent, conventionally existent, ultimately existent, knowable, cognizable, directly cognizable, with form, without form, visible, invisible, and so on, how should these also be appropriately understood as being included by the aggregates, elements, and sense-fields? This has already been explained before. What is included by ultimate truth? It is the suchness of the aggregates, elements, and sense-fields. If one is skilled in such inclusion, what benefit is obtained? The benefit of clearly gathering the objects of focus is obtained.

As contemplation is gathered, so too are the roots of virtue increased. What is association? It should be viewed in six ways: association because there is no difference, association because of mixture, association because of contact, association because of simultaneous arising, association because of accomplished action, and association because of common understanding. What is association because there is no difference? In the direction of the subtle particles, all that has direction is without difference. What is association because of mixture? Those with direction above the subtle particles are mixed. What is association because of contact? Those assembled with direction touch each other. What is association because of simultaneous arising? Whatever aggregates, elements, and sense bases are, they abide by arising together, that is, one birth, one state of abiding, and one cessation. What is association because of accomplished action? For example, two monks equally engage in any dispute. What is association because of common understanding? The mind and mental phenomena commonly understand one object. However, association because of common understanding is accomplished by another object, not by one's own object. Two are the same, not two are different. Two are simultaneous, not two are at different times. Two are the same realm and place, not two are different realm and place. Pervasive association is like feeling, perception, thought, touch, attention, and consciousness. Furthermore, pervasive association that is afflicted is like the mind and the four afflictions. Occasional association is like faith and other virtuous qualities in the mind, as well as afflictions such as desire and the near afflictions. Association that has changed from a state is that which is associated with the feeling of pleasure. Suffering and neither suffering nor pleasure are also the same. Continuous, uninterrupted association
