And the aggregates, etc., the eighteen realms, and the four sources of birth. It is to abandon attachment to liberation. How is it that it is neither learning nor non-learning? What are those that are neither learning nor non-learning? Why examine what is neither learning nor non-learning? The virtue, non-virtue, and non-indication of ordinary individuals, as well as the afflictions and non-indication of those who are learning, the non-indication of those who are not learning, and the unconditioned, should be regarded as neither learning nor non-learning. Eighteen realms, eight sources of birth, and one aspect of the aggregates, realms, and sources of birth other than these. It is to abandon attachment to not being liberated. How is it that what is to be abandoned by seeing? What are those that are to be abandoned by seeing? Why examine what is to be abandoned by seeing? All the views of afflictions that are thoroughly conceived, as well as doubt, the place of views, and the afflictions and near afflictions of those who have entered into wrong views, and whatever physical actions and verbal actions are aroused by views, and all the aggregates, realms, and sources of birth of the lower realms, should be regarded as what is to be abandoned by seeing. One aspect of all. It is to abandon attachment to the perfection of seeing. How is it that what is to be abandoned by meditation? What are those that are to be abandoned by meditation? Why examine what is to be abandoned by meditation? The contaminated dharmas that are the opposite of what is to be abandoned by seeing up to the attainment of the path of seeing. One aspect of all. It is to abandon attachment to the perfection of meditation. How is it that what is not to be abandoned? What are those that are not to be abandoned? Why examine what is not to be abandoned? The uncontaminated should be regarded as what is not to be abandoned. One aspect of the aggregates, etc., the three realms, and the two sources of birth, except for what is in accordance with the part of discernment. It is to abandon attachment to accomplishment. How is it that dependent arising? What are those that are dependently arising? Why examine dependent arising?

If asked how to observe dependent origination, it is observed from its nature, the differentiation of branches, the summary of branches, the establishment of branches as causes, the establishment of the actions of branches, the collection of branches into afflictions, meaning, profundity, extremely subtle differences, accordance with reason, and accordance and non-accordance with reason. Except for one part of the realm of phenomena and the source of phenomena, all else is included. This is to abandon the manifest clinging to the self and phenomena arising from causelessness and discordant causes. If asked what the nature is like, it is born from unwavering causes, born from impermanent causes, and born from powerful causes. If asked how the differentiation of branches is like, it is the twelve branches, the twelve branches of dependent origination are: ignorance, formation, consciousness, name and form, six sense sources, contact, feeling, craving, grasping, existence, birth, old age and death. If asked how the summary of branches is like, it is the throwing branch, the projecting branch, the manifesting branch, and the manifested branch. What is the throwing branch? It is ignorance, formation, and consciousness. What is the projecting branch? It is name and form, the six sense sources, contact, and feeling. What is the manifesting branch? It is craving, grasping, and existence. What is the manifested branch? It is birth, old age, and death. If asked how the establishment of branches as causes is like, it should be understood that the branches are established as causes also by habit, power, attention, and co-emergence, and they should be appropriately combined accordingly. If asked how the establishment of the actions of branches is like, what is the function of ignorance? It is to make beings deluded in existence and is also the cause of formations. What is the function of formations? It is to differentiate beings in the various realms and is also the cause of the habit of consciousness. What is the function of consciousness? It binds the actions of beings.
