It is to abandon attachment to self. Also, the opposite of arising is non-arising. How is it grasping? How many kinds of grasping are there? Why examine grasping? The sense faculties with form, as well as mind and mental phenomena, are to be regarded as grasping. That is, the three aggregates, as well as the aggregate of form and a part of the aggregate of formation, the twelve sources, the six elements, the dharma element, and a part of the elements. It is to abandon attachment to self as the eater. Also, grasping before meeting and after meeting, as well as grasping one's own characteristics separately in the present, and grasping all objects at all times with self and common characteristics, are also to be regarded as grasping. It should be regarded as saying that even the nominal, which is established for the sake of the arising of consciousness in assembly, is grasping. How is it the grasped? How many kinds of grasped are there? Why examine the grasped? Whatever is grasping is also the grasped. There are also those that are grasped but not grasping, which is the meaning of the very object of grasping. Everything is. It is to abandon attachment to self as an object. How is it looking outward? How many kinds of looking outward are there? Why examine looking outward? Except for the mind and mental phenomena that are completely gathered by practicing the dharma that arises from hearing and from thinking in the Buddha's teachings, and that is in accordance with it, being fully associated with desire is looking outward. The four elements, the two sources, and a part of those other than that. It is to abandon attachment to self as not being free from desire. How is it looking inward? How many kinds of looking inward are there? Why examine looking inward? The opposite of looking outward is looking inward. Except for the four elements and the two sources, a part of those other than that. It is to abandon attachment to self as being free from desire. How is it afflicted? How many kinds of afflicted are there? Why examine being afflicted? Unwholesome and obscured and unspecified are afflicted. Obscured and unspecified is the constantly flowing mind.

I am associated with afflictions, associated with consciousness, associated with the co-emergent destructive view of the assembly, the view of holding to extremes, form, and formlessness. One part of the aggregates, the ten realms, and the four sources. It is to dispel the attachment of self-grasping to having afflictions. How is it that it is not afflicted? How many are those that are not afflicted? Why examine what is not afflicted? That which is virtuous and unobscured and unspecified is what is not afflicted. One part of the eight realms and eight sources, the aggregates, the realms, and the remaining sources. It is to dispel the attachment of self-grasping to being free from afflictions. How is it that it is past? How many are those that are past? Why examine what is past? It is said to be past because it has the characteristic of having arisen and ceased, having experienced cause and effect, having truly and utterly transcended defilement and purification, having been destroyed after holding onto the cause, having and not having the result and its own characteristic, the mark of remembrance and the complete calculation of remembrance, the mark of defilement depending on dependence, and the mark of purification through equanimity. One part of everything. It is to dispel the attachment of self-grasping to entering. How is it that it is future? How many are those that are future? Why examine what is future? It is said to be future because although there is a cause, it has not yet arisen, it has not yet obtained its own characteristic, cause and effect have not yet been experienced, the object of defilement and purification does not dwell near, having and not having cause and its own characteristic, the mark of defilement with manifest joy, and the mark of purification without manifest joy. One part of everything. It is to dispel the attachment of self-grasping to entering. How is it that it is presently arising? How many are those that are presently arising? Why examine what is presently arising? It is said to be presently arising because it has the characteristic of the path of arising ceasing, having experienced cause and effect, not having experienced cause and effect, defilement and
