Because it is all-pervasive, it is not as it is. Because virtue, non-virtue, and the unindicated are unreasonable, that is also not acceptable. Whatever is conceived as the seed of all phenomena that arise in the aftermath of form and mind, that is also unreasonable as before, and above that, those who die from the formless and mindless realms, and those who arise from the cessation attainment are also not acceptable. Except for being the immediately preceding condition, the last mind of an Arhat would also become unacceptable. Thus, if all seeds do not have the consciousness of ripening, then all afflictions and purifications would be unreasonable. Therefore, that exists, and the characteristics as described are also accomplished. Here are the verses: The mind of the noble Bodhisattva, having abandoned the five consciousnesses, how does the mind transform to something other than that which is given? It is said to be an antidote, but it is unreasonable because it is not abandoned. Even if that is abandoned, cause and effect would be indistinguishable. If you want the seed to be separated or the entity to be non-existent, without that there is no duality, transformation is not possible. What are the distinctions of this Alaya consciousness? In short, it should be viewed as three types and four types. Among them, there are three types due to the distinctions of the three types of habitual tendencies: the distinction of the habitual tendencies of manifestation, the distinction of the habitual tendencies of self-view, and the distinction of the habitual tendencies of the limb of existence. The four types are: distinguished by projection, distinguished by ripening, distinguished by the nature of cause, and distinguished solely by characteristics. Among them, being distinguished by projection is that which newly arises as the habitual tendency of ripening; if that does not exist, then consciousness by the condition of action, and existence by the condition of grasping would be unreasonable. Among them, being distinguished by ripening is that which ripens in all realms by the condition of action and existence; if that does not exist, then without seeds, the phenomena that arise again would not be able to arise. Among them, being distinguished by the nature of cause is that which is apprehended as self by the mind in that very

If that own-nature ceases to exist, then the object of mind grasping as self is not reasonable. Among these, the detailed distinctions by characteristics are: the common characteristic of that own-nature, the uncommon characteristic, the seed characteristic of the arising of non-sentient things, and the seed characteristic of the arising of sentient beings. The common one is the seed of the container world. The uncommon one is the seed of each individual birthplace. Whatever is common is the seed of the arising of non-sentient things. If an antidote arises, then the uncommon ones are the discordant aspects. For a commonality that is completely grasped by the conceptual thought of others, the vision becomes completely pure, just as yogis have different objects of observation for the same thing due to different intentions. Here are verses: Common bonds are difficult to abandon, and complete knowledge is considered difficult. From great external signs, yogis have different minds. Even if it has not ceased, the vision of the pure is pure. Because the Buddha's vision is completely pure, the Buddha's field is also completely pure. Whatever is uncommon is the seed of the arising of sentient beings. If that does not exist, then the distinction of the arising of the container world and the sentient world is not reasonable. Furthermore, there are the characteristics of bad states and the characteristics of thorough purification. The characteristic of bad states is the seed of afflictions and near afflictions. The characteristic of thorough purification is the seed of virtuous dharmas with outflows. If that does not exist, then it is not reasonable for the maturation to be the karma of a place, and the difference of being capable is not reasonable. Furthermore, there are the characteristics of what has been experienced and what has not been experienced. The characteristic of what has been experienced is that the maturation of the seeds of virtue and non-virtue has already matured. The characteristic of what has not been experienced is the seed of the habit of manifestation, because it is the seed of the arising of elaboration from beginningless time. If that does not exist, then it is not reasonable that the virtue and evil karma that has been done and what has been done produce the result of what has been experienced, and it is also not reasonable that new habits of manifestation arise.
