Training the mind, abandoning the four abodes, practicing calm abiding and insight meditation focused on Dharma and meaning, always with reverence, entering with diligence and mindfulness. May immeasurable sentient beings in immeasurable realms of the world attain unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment in a single instant—this is the first mind training. By whatever thought one engages in generosity and other perfections, may I attain those thoughts, so that I may completely perfect the practice of the perfections with little effort—this is the second mind training. Even with virtuous deeds and defilements, if one possesses virtuous qualities, one dies immediately, and if one is born with a body that is completely perfect as desired, why should I, who possess virtuous deeds without defilements, not immediately become completely perfect in every way? This is the third mind training. Here are verses: Because limitless sentient beings, Become embodied each instant, If perfect enlightenment is attained, Therefore, one should not be discouraged. With whatever excellent intention, One performs generosity and other deeds, Those who have attained that intention firmly, Are said to be the nature of generosity and so forth. Those endowed with virtue, immediately after death, Obtain a perfect body as desired, Those who have abandoned virtue, also immediately, Why do they not obtain that perfection? By abandoning mental activity, Hearers and solitary realizers completely abandon mental activity, By abandoning doubt and uncertainty, All doubts about the Great Vehicle are eliminated, By abandoning attachment to the Dharma, Abandoning the ego-grasping of the Dharma of hearing and thinking, And completely abandoning attachment to the ego-grasping of "I," By abandoning conceptualization, Because one does not focus on or conceptualize all the characteristics that are present and established. Here are verses: Whatever characteristics are placed before, And whatever dwells as self-nature, The wise do not conceptualize any of them, And will attain the supreme enlightenment. How does one enter? Born from the cause of the habit of hearing, Gathered by proper attention, Accompanied by the view of the appearance of Dharma and meaning, And all

There are four kinds of pervasive seeking, namely the pervasive seeking of name and meaning, as well as self-nature and imputation; and there are four kinds of knowing as they truly are, namely name and object, as well as self-nature and imputation, self-nature and, especially, truly knowing, these are because they are unattainable. Thus, when a Bodhisattva strives to engage in mere consciousness, becoming like that, for the mind's expression that appears as letters and meanings, the name of the letter is also truly realized to be merely a mental construct. The meaning that relies on the letter is also truly realized to be merely a mental expression. The name is also truly realized to be merely the exhaustion of self-nature and imputation. Therefore, focusing on what is merely the mind's expression, along with the meaning of the name, along with self-nature and imputation, along with self-nature and particularity, when the nature of meaning is unattainable, the four pervasive seekings and the four kinds of knowing as they truly are, for the mental discriminations that appear as letters and meanings, they only enter into mere consciousness. How does one enter into mere consciousness? And how does one enter? One enters just like that, along with the two causes and views, and the two aspects of the collection of appearances, name and meaning, as well as self-nature and imputation, and the six meanings of self-nature and particularity are meaningless, and they abide near the objects of the grasped and the grasper, and because various meanings appear simultaneously. It enters like a rope appearing as a snake in a dark hole, for example, because it is not there, the snake on the rope is an illusion, those who understand its meaning, the thought of the snake that is not there will disappear, and they will abide in the thought of the rope. That is also an illusion in a subtle way, because it is the nature of color, and smell, and taste, and touch. In this regard, just as relying on the thought of color and so on, the thought of the rope should also be dispelled, similarly relying on the thought of the perfectly established nature, the six kinds of letters and meanings that appear
