Regarding what is called "ground," the Sutra states, "Abandoning the taking of life and turning back from the taking of life." This should be understood as being spoken temporarily from the perspective of discipline. The four dhyanas are also the same. Thus, discipline and samadhi are known to be in accordance with the feet, so they are called feet, because they cause a change in the place of dwelling. The saying, "Without eyes and without feet, one cannot go," means that without eyes is the meaning of being blind. Therefore, it is said, "Possessing wisdom and feet." Likewise, it will also be explained that one who has attained the ultimate of the three trainings that have just been taught. In order to explain the categories of the meaning of the teachings, it is said, "Because it is very much in accordance with vipashyana, shamatha, and both aspects." Among these, wisdom is an aspect of vipashyana. Samadhi is an aspect of shamatha. Discipline and so on are aspects of both. Other categories should also be understood as being called possessing wisdom and feet because they are in accordance with vipashyana, shamatha, and both aspects. Among these, wisdom is called wisdom because it sees the truth as it is. Samadhi and mindfulness are aspects of shamatha. The remaining categories of limbs are aspects of both, and having done so, one who possesses the eightfold noble path is called possessing wisdom and feet. The saying, "Gone to the supreme excellent place," means gone to a very excellent place. These explain the meaning of the word "Sugata" as possessing three kinds of meaning, because one has reached the end of the path to be traversed, therefore one is Sugata, like a well-filled vase. Just as one would say "well-filled" for a vase that is completely filled without remainder. Similarly, one who has reached the end of all that is to be traversed is called Sugata. Because one has attained the ultimate of the highest praise, therefore one is Sugata, like a beautiful form. Just as a highly praised form is a beautiful form, because one has reached the end of the highest praise, therefore one is Sugata. Also, because one goes without returning, therefore one is

It is Sugata, just as an epidemic is completely purified. Just as an epidemic is completely purified and stable, it will not recur or happen again. Similarly, whatever is attained and reached will not be lost or returned, therefore it is called Sugata, because it has reached the extreme place to be traveled. Looking at sentient beings and the world realm, knowing in all ways, therefore it is the knower of the world, that is, for the sentient realm with all defilements, it also truly knows that it has all defilements; for those without all defilements, it also truly knows that it does not have all defilements; for the world realms, it also truly knows in the same way. Therefore it is said, because of knowing all aspects of having all defilements and being purified. Mind The essence of knowing the supreme means of taming is to know the supreme means. Also, the mind itself is suitable to be tamed, or for taming it. Wherever it is desired, the mind will quickly go. Taming the mind is good, taming the mind will be happy. This is shown by the verses, if the mind itself is tamed, then the one who becomes its master is the person. Therefore, it is also said in other scriptures: By those who have well tamed themselves, the wise will attain heaven. It is said like this. Just as it is also said in other scriptures: Just as a carpenter trains wood, the wise tame themselves. It is said like this, therefore knowing the method of taming the mind that has become oneself and a person is the helmsman of taming the person, as it is said to the Bhagavan. The unsurpassed is to tame the mind that is difficult to tame, and the means of happiness without fault, and the extremely supreme meaning, that is, taming to Nirvana. Because it truly shows and distinguishes, it is called a teacher. What does it show? It is said: arising from all sufferings, all sufferings are the sufferings of the three realms of evil destinies, and the sufferings of reincarnation. Definitely arising from them is the difference between cause and effect.
