Some are named "etc." etc. In order to show the ability to accomplish activities, it transforms accordingly, and this does not transform into anything else, this is called "is." The emanation of speech, in general, should be understood as being divided into three aspects: nature, basis, and difference. If one possesses two perfect qualities, it is called perfect nature. That is, the nature of being pleasing to the ear and vast. It has also been said about this: There are those who possess a pleasing tone, and there are those who possess a clear voice. The basis is: related to oneself, etc. The function is: belonging to teaching the Dharma, etc. Because it possesses metaphors, foundation, and perfect combination, it possesses five branches, which is called possessing a pleasing tone. The Buddhas, the Bhagavat, teach the Dharma in the assembly, and from their mouths emanate speech possessing five branches. That is also called speech possessing five qualities. It should also be understood that the words of the speech possessing five branches, the later words are explanations of the previous words. Showing profundity is: like the sound of a dragon. The metaphor shown therein is: like the sound of the Kalaviṅka bird being pleasing to the ear, meaning: just as the sound of the Kalaviṅka bird is profound and pleasing to the ear, so are these also like that. Being able to show satisfaction is to make joyful. Furthermore, making joyful is explained by the power of fame. The meaning of surpassing all is having the qualification to enter the city of Nirvana, so it is going to the city. Showing pleasantness and beauty is being pleasing to the ear. Thorough explanation is expression, because it is in accordance with the meaning of fame. The explanation of pleasantness is without inconsistency, the collection of words and letters captivates the mind. Showing the perfect foundation is: not relying, etc., because one does not rely on the joy of obtaining and respect, etc. Showing the perfect combination is: it is inexhaustible, meaning possessing immeasurable courage.

Therefore. Because it possesses these five branches, it is widely known as possessing the five qualities of the Tathagata's speech, namely: vastness, pleasantness to the ear, meaningfulness, ease of understanding, and possessing various desires. These five qualities are the branches of the other five qualities, namely: in order, they should be listened to, not distracted, liberated, necessarily belonging, and causing to be perfected. Pleasant and delightful should be understood as pleasant to the ear. Because it is extremely vast and extensive, it is naturally the case that all the retinue gathered there will hear in the same way. Therefore, it is said that even those who live far away, and so on. In order to show how to enter as desired, it is said, "If desired, even if it is very small," which clearly shows that the Tathagata's speech is immeasurable and endless, and can enter into any number. The so-called "teaching the Dharma to sentient beings will occur" means that sentient beings, by virtue of their respective inclinations, can clearly understand various different meanings. Therefore, it is praised: When a single word is clear, it appears as if it were many, and everyone feels that this is for me, and understands it for the sole reason. Thus it is said. Abandoning the language related to the support, whatever emanation speech teaches the Dharma and encourages the negligent, this is called the emanation of speech related to oneself, because it enters into connection with one's own continuum. By the power of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, whatever emanation speech teaches the Dharma to the continuums of other beings, from teaching the Dharma to encouraging others, is the emanation of speech related to the continuums of others, because it appears to rely on the support of others. By the blessing of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, a sound arises from the middle of the sky, or from the mouth of an emanation being, or from anywhere else, the sound arising from things that are not considered sentient beings, such as palm tree garlands, is unrelated.
