Therefore. These two are called the power of nature. Therefore, others that arise from food and drink, etc., are not called the power of nature. Furthermore, to show another way of establishing power: it belongs to the body and to the mind. That which has little harm and is of the nature of being without disease belongs to the body. Great pleasure belongs to the mind. This is to be known. What is the cause of ripening? The three causes mentioned earlier. After showing the ripening from the cause of ripening to the cause of wisdom. In order to show its cause, it is said, what is the cause of ripening? Here, in order to show that the cause of the various ripenings that manifest and accumulate in various ways from the continuum of sentient beings is also various. In non-harming, etc., even if each ripening has various causes, in order to know the main nature of the cause of ripening by the eight ripenings, the eight are said. Just as the three trainings were shown to the shepherd boy in order to generate the joy of being frightened by many things. It should also be understood by following the sutras. Harming means killing. The opposite of that is non-harming. There are two types of that: those who have abandoned it by properly receiving it, and those who have abandoned it by the nature of the Dharma. Among them, those who have abandoned it by properly receiving it are those who are included in the eight vows. Those who have abandoned it by the nature of the Dharma are those who have changed their lives when they enter the stream, and those who have received it from the second Bodhisattva ground. In order to show the non-harming included in these two, it is said, the intention of non-harming. Some say that some people do not kill by nature as long as they live, but they are not practicing well in the aspect of the antidote called not doing evil. Therefore, in order to summarize the good practice included in abandonment, the intention of non-harming is mentioned. The sutra says that by not killing, one can obtain longevity with a rope. Giving light and clean clothes is said in some sutras, giving a lamp gives eyes. Thus, giving light is said.

It becomes endowed with color in order to make color appear. Some scriptures say, "Giving clothes makes the appearance beautiful." Therefore, it is said that giving clothes covers the secret places, thereby becoming beautiful. Mentioning "Sarpa" is to indicate giving clothes with color, meaning giving clothes without stains. It should be understood that everything is the nature of having discipline, because discipline is the cause of being born in a good realm, and these arise from the special cause of the ripened fruit of what is abandoned. As the scripture says, "One abandons one, many become complete." "Definitely destroying pride" means that having discipline itself is destroying pride, which is the cause of a noble lineage. That is, prostrating to the teacher and the teacher's place, paying homage, and also paying homage to others with a respectful mind, like a servant, like an outcast, following with worldly wisdom. Therefore, one will be born separately in noble and great lineages. As the scripture says, "Definitely destroying pride, one will be born into a noble lineage." Here, it should be explained that the cause of the three ways of perfect wealth is shown, because the other two are also included in it, and follow it. What is enjoyed, with whom it is enjoyed, and what is gathered and enjoyed, all of these are called enjoyment, therefore it is shown that giving is the cause of perfect wealth. Like "beggars" and so on, it shows two kinds of giving: with seeking and without seeking. Giving to those who want and pray is giving to those who seek, that is, giving food and whatever else is desired to those who want food. For those who do not have utensils, and those who are helpful, and those who suffer, and the objects of offering, even if they do not seek, one knows that they do not have utensils, therefore giving things is approaching them. Among them, by giving to those who seek, one will obtain the necessities for approaching enjoyment oneself.

By giving without being stingy, one obtains a great mass of wealth that has not been used, and thus becomes very wealthy. Possessing accumulated wealth is indeed being a great enjoyer. Therefore, it is said in other sutras: "One will become wealthy, possess great wealth, and possess great enjoyment," and so on. To show that one will possess the five qualities of speech, being free from the four verbal misdeeds, it is said, "Words of truth," and so on. Possessing the five qualities is: being pleasant, clear, understandable, harmonious, and without contradiction. Mentioning habit implies the meaning of being able to rely on, and so on. "In the future" refers to future rebirths. "Oneself" refers to one's own continuum. Praying to accomplish various qualities means praying for oneself to accomplish qualities in various ways: May I always be separated from evil friends and never separated from virtuous friends; may I be free from the bonds of demons and be very skilled in understanding the profound and vast Dharma; may I never be tainted by worldly concerns in all my lives, and always be young and practice celibacy; may I become a supreme Bodhisattva who benefits sentient beings, rejoices in benefiting others, and is full of compassion, until I attain enlightenment! Following these verses, constantly engage in prayer, offering to the Three Jewels and the Guru. There are also two ways of offering to the Guru, namely, two times: To the living Guru, one should offer clothes and other medicines and supplies for illness, as well as attending to him, and so on; accumulating merit is the material offering to the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. Diligently practicing the Dharma that is in accordance with the Dharma is the practice offering for one's own benefit, and this is the ritual of offering. Therefore, Rahula Gupta said: Whatever actions accomplish benefit for me, and the peace that is praised by the wise, these are also great offerings to you, so one should not abandon material offerings. This is what is said.
