Here, to be renowned is to have great renown. The combination of these two makes one a leader in the world, and that is fame. Similarly, to have great power, great might, and great ability indicates that many people desire to be so. Among these, bravery is courage. It also has two aspects: with afflictions and without afflictions. With afflictions is bravery on the battlefield. Without afflictions is bravery in giving, because the scriptures clearly state that courage lies in giving and fighting. Diligence is the body and mind's involvement in the completion of vast and extensive tasks, and the mind's inclination towards virtuous Dharma. Both of these are diligence. Steadfastness is patience, even when experiencing intense suffering and being separated from happiness, the body and mind do not waver, so it is steadfast and stable. Being skilled and experienced in a particular task is wisdom. Being skilled in practice is being learned. Furthermore, contemplating on a vast field of knowledge is wisdom. Contemplating on a profound field of knowledge is being learned. Possessing both of these is called great wisdom and profound wisdom. Good conduct is being the antidote to misconduct, because it is endowed with good behavior in body and so on. Being skilled in various crafts and professions, just as it is shown from the earth arising from hearing, one should understand that those who have reached the ultimate in these fields are endowed with extraordinary wisdom, because they are interdependent, so one can distinguish the difference between this and that, and that is wisdom. The so-called basis refers to the basis of those wise people as mentioned before. The so-called becoming a leader is that when acting in those fields, the world will desire it. Therefore, it is said that it is a great gathering of many people. Being respected is because it is an object of love. Being honored is because it is in accordance with love. Being served is because it is in accordance with reverence. Or, being respected is physically. Being honored is verbally. Being served is mentally, because it can generate merit. These are the kinds.

The land is a place to be offered to. What is called "the thing of a male" is what is possessed that is called a male. If asked what that is, it is said: Because it is shown to possess the male organ, it is said. In this way, the very essence of a human is summarized. The very essence of a human also becomes threefold: inferior, middling, and superior. Inferior is that which possesses the characteristics of a hermaphrodite. Middling is that which possesses the female organ. Superior is that which possesses the male organ. Therefore, having taken hold of the superior, it is said, "the very male," and so forth. Furthermore, there are two ways to distinguish a person: appearance and characteristics. Those who behave in form are called male because they possess the appearance of a male, but not because they possess the characteristics of a male. Among people, some possess the characteristics of a male, but also have the appearance of a female or a hermaphrodite, so these two words are shown. Having made power into two kinds, perfect power should be distinguished: that which arises from cause and that which arises from condition. That which arises from cause is born from karma, which is called co-emergent. That which arises from the condition of enjoying abundant and vast food is that which arises from condition. Little harm and the nature of being without illness show the first power, because those with many illnesses do not have co-emergent power. Great joy shows the second, because through the difference of enjoying food, the body is nourished, and if the body becomes abundant, great joy will arise. Being without illness born from karma is little harm. Being without illness born from the difference of time, food, and place is being without illness. Thus, both being without illness born from previous karma and being born from unbalanced conditions are mentioned. Being diligent in the activity of making power is great joy. Furthermore, because of little harm and having the nature of being without illness, one becomes endowed with power, which is the difference of taking in the sun's rays gathered by touch. Merely being greatly joyful makes one endowed with might, skillful in all activities.
