And in accordance with this, it is attained through the power of cultivation. Thus, for a while, placing one's own name under the control of the concept of suddenness, one says, "For the eye, it is called eye," and so on. The so-called "two pointed at" are name and reason, that is, expression and the place of the words of expression. This is also name and name itself, that is, the distinction between what is said and what can be said. Even if the nature of the reason is called eye, the nature of the reason is not the eye, just like form and so on, because it cannot be grasped without relying on the name. Therefore, it is said, "Without the imputation of the eye, no one will have the wisdom of the eye." If, for things like form and so on, before hearing their names, the wisdom of form and so on can arise, then it should also arise for the eye, but this is not the case. Therefore, name and eye are very different, name is other, and eye is also other. Therefore, for the sudden Dharma, one should recognize it with a sudden name. When contemplating in this way, the concept of the eye will also give rise to the thought of being sudden, just like before. In order to eliminate the attachment to all the names of such a nature, one should recognize all Dharmas by gathering them through the path of means. With the power of universally thinking with such a concept, eliminate the concept of proliferation for all Dharmas, and abide in the object itself with a non-discriminating mind. Whoever abides in such a state is the pure wisdom of the Tathagata, that is, the signless Samadhi, which is a synonym for lineage and race, meaning that for the Samadhi that belongs to that lineage, one will be able to obtain single-pointedness of mind. In order to show that such contemplation pervades all eyes, it is said, "Do not abandon this contemplation." In order to show that the Shravakas should also cultivate this contemplation more, it is said, "Supernatural powers will become very rapid," meaning that one will be afraid after hearing it, but if one becomes accustomed to it

The word "于". The functions of the remaining powers should be understood from the scriptures themselves. The powers are not said to be obtained sequentially, hence the phrase "instantly attained upon complete enlightenment." To show the sequence of these through manifestation and function, it is said, "They become manifest in sequence," and so forth. "Instantly upon complete enlightenment" means definitively emerging from samsara, abiding in a state that transcends samsara. For those who have long been accustomed to, and will generate the causes and effects of samsara, after observing, with the power of knowing what is and is not the proper place, to manifest and enable the complete abandonment of non-virtue, and to enable the accomplishment of virtue as it is. For those who desire to be born in the higher realms, the third power is manifested, and instructions are given to cause detachment from desire. Thus, for sentient beings of the three realms, in the manner of worldly perfection, it should be known that these three powers are manifested sequentially. To show the sequence of manifestation in the manner of supramundane perfection, there is the phrase "For those who desire supramundane detachment from desire," and so forth. For those who desire supramundane detachment from desire, depending on the superiority or inferiority of their faculties, their inclinations, and the differences in their latent tendencies, to indicate the path for them, the three powers are manifested, and the faculties and so forth are observed as they are. After universally observing, with the power of knowing all the paths of entry that accord with conduct, they are caused to enter. Thus, having attained the samadhi of the path of entry, the middle way is indicated with the two powers. Moreover, those two extremes have the view of the aggregates as their root, and those two extremes are severed by the Tathagata.

Because the middle way is the root of seeing selflessness. By things viewed as self and belonging to self, one falls into permanence and annihilation. To teach that the middle way is the enemy of the three realms, therefore, one enters into abandoning all afflictions. Thus, diligently striving and teaching with the root of virtuous causes, even if one does not abandon one in a hundred, one will be completely used by afflictions. Therefore, some develop the conceit of appearing to have done what has not been done. To abandon the conceit of those, the ten powers act, which is one of the sequences. The phrase "regarding the laws of dependent origination" means that which, due to not being fully realized, remains in cyclic existence for a long time, is this dependent origination. Therefore, it is also realized by the wisdom that abides in the Dharma. Because that wisdom is the aspect of fully knowing the non-inverted characteristics of cause and effect, it is called the power of knowing what is and is not the place. Thus, having observed dependent origination, for householders, with the second power, for those who have correctly taken up the path of action, one observes the three times, because one observes the realm of all afflicted beings. With the third power, for renunciates, for those who have correctly taken up purification, one examines whether there is anyone who has become a vessel of purification. The remaining powers should be viewed as before. Having observed, one also guides towards purification, and the remaining ones are in that order as well. The phrase "the realm of Dharma" refers to the cause of entering into the Dharmas, by attention, even if there is no realm of beings such as the agent, one observes the attention to acting closely on one's own actions. Similarly, in order to liberate from suffering those who have obtained miserable suffering through the gate of perversely clinging to conditioned, selfless phenomena as self, with the third power, one teaches the path that is in accordance with the faculties, faith, and inclination.
