The thought of constantly meditating on the aspects of enlightenment is itself a virtuous thought. The thought of extreme solitude that is in accordance with meditating on these is itself an unmixed thought. Because it is abandoned during all worldly activities. For a householder, it is the thought of not looking at desirable qualities and the distinctions of wealth, and for an ordained person, it is the thought of not looking at gains and respect. Thus, it is the thought of not looking at the body, place, and possessions. Abandoning the lesser vehicle and having faith in the Great Vehicle is itself a great thought. The thought of doing the benefit of all sentient beings is itself a vast thought, because it makes the benefit of others as one's own benefit. The so-called entering into that mind is the mind that is completely separated by the aspiration of the first ground. Abiding in that, one will enter into this thought. By its power, it is called a pure thought. The so-called because of greatness means that the meditation will reach the ultimate end. Increasing by its own nature is itself complete. By being exceedingly joyful, one will obtain entry into the second ground, which is the concluding statement. Because there is no habitual practice of violating moral conduct by nature, one is naturally virtuous. Therefore, it is said: If even the smallest is not habitually practiced, and so on. The smallest path of action is that even by merely contemplating it, one does not sustain living beings, and so on, which shows the ultimate extent of the ten paths of non-virtuous action. What need is there to mention the medium or large, and so on, which also shows it. The complete ten paths of virtuous action will also appear in all lifetimes. Regarding that, the sutra's words are: A Bodhisattva abiding on a stainless ground is naturally endowed with the ten paths of virtuous action, from the thought that the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha are certain, to the meaning of those is like this: naturally, they will appear correctly. These ten paths of virtuous action should be constantly and continuously guarded, from the end of the realm of Yama.

The explanation of the meaning from "knowing there is happiness" to the interval is that it refers to those who are naturally disciplined, etc. Those with afflictions refer to the evil destinies, i.e., the three lower realms. Because of universally practicing actions of creating smallness, etc., it is said that one should thoroughly understand the actions of cause and effect. Furthermore, because of correctly taking up the path of the ten virtuous actions, it is explained that the meaning from "knowing there is rebirth up to the peak of existence" to the interval refers to the happy destinies, etc., and one should thoroughly understand their classification. Prior to this, the meaning from "these paths of the ten virtuous actions with a temporary mind" to "one should strive to completely subdue all forms and realize them" is that one should thoroughly understand the classification of the three vehicles. Therefore, one should learn correctly in this way, from "in this way" to "in this way, these paths of the ten non-virtuous actions will accumulate immeasurable great heaps of suffering, I abandon these paths of the ten non-virtuous actions and abide in the joy of the Dharma," in order to show its meaning, the terms "vipāka" (fully ripened) and "hetu-sadṛśa" (cause-congruent) are spoken. Among them, the vipāka fruit is from the causes of great, medium, and small, one is born in hell, as an animal, or as a hungry ghost. After dying from there and being born among humans, having a short life and engaging in behavior such as falsehood and deception, is the hetu-sadṛśa fruit. I abide in the path of the ten virtuous actions, and I also strongly encourage others to abide in those virtuous actions, this is to show the opposite meaning, from "oneself also abandoning non-virtuous actions" to "also causing others to enter." Prior to this, the meaning from "mainly a beneficial mind" to "wanting to place in the unsurpassed Great Vehicle" is shown by the interval from "the fault of practicing discordant actions" to "separately knowing it is suffering." The meaning of these should be understood by following the sutra.
