Even if one attains a (lower) ground, one cannot attain a higher ground, just as even if one attains dhyana, one cannot attain a higher dhyana. Just as one cannot attain a higher dhyana even after attaining dhyana, one must therefore completely practice it in order to attain a higher dhyana. Similarly, the situation here is the same; one must fully utilize the ground for many kalpas. The abode of the Tathāgata is the simultaneous attainment and purification, because it is unsurpassed and uncreated. Therefore, it is praised: "Just as birds dwell in trees, you have attained it here in an instant." This indicates that it refers to the attainment of union. Because it is included in the ground of no-more-learning, its purity is not attained gradually, and there is nothing to be learned. The so-called "superior pure intention" refers to the temporary state. The so-called "what is the abode" refers to the nature, because they are not different. The so-called "basis of pure intention" refers to, just as the excellent view of the Śrāvakas, pure intention is like naturally possessing discipline, it is the Bodhisattva of pure intention, because this shows its cause. The so-called "because of naturally possessing discipline" etc., means that in all births and lives, without taking up the ten paths of virtuous action, one naturally possesses them, because on those grounds, actions of body etc. are included in virtuous actions, therefore one possesses dwelling in universal enjoyment. The phrase "the mind possessing discipline will become equal," from "therefore" to "also the nature of non-destruction" and then to "is the discipline that correctly accomplishes dhyana," is from the basis of completely pure discipline, one enters and dwells in dhyana. Mentioning "worldly" refers to dhyana, the formless realm, and the qualities arising from them; those shown on that ground are that ground. Entering dhyana and samadhi again and again, and fully possessing them, is universally enjoying virtuous Dharma. Therefore, it is established as "abode," and everything is the same. The so-called "relying on dhyana" means having attained it from the beginning.

It is based on the excellent intention, with the words "By dwelling in equanimity of mind, one will know things as they truly are." This is called the state of thorough discernment. In this state, one dwells extensively in the practice of the aspects of enlightenment. Just as the Shravakas realize the truth by taking the practice of the aspects of enlightenment as their guide, so too, Bodhisattvas, relying on thorough discernment, become the abode of direct realization of the truth. With the aspect of individually knowing the truth, in this state, one dwells extensively in the contemplation of the truth. With the determination that by knowing the cause of suffering, one can stop suffering, possessing the knowledge of the truth, one contemplates individually in the order of entering and returning. Speaking with the direct realization of the truth as the main focus, "not understanding" means not individually knowing the truth. "The arising of suffering, having a cause," the cause is the afflictions and the afflictions caused by karma. In order to perfect the training of superior wisdom, one should practice without characteristics. As it is said, in "those three aspects," etc., "having manifest effort" is a general statement. In order to show that very point, it is said, "with effort," etc. "Continuously without interruption" means continuously moment by moment. "All dharmas" means unconditioned dharmas, etc. "Having the practice of non-conceptual wisdom" means that just as Suchness is non-conceptual, as the supreme object of knowledge, there is no conceptualization at all. Similarly, the wisdom that focuses on it is also like it, being non-conceptual. Practicing its aspect is called having the practice of wisdom. The difference between it and what was said before is that the non-conceptual wisdom mentioned earlier, due to much practice, enters naturally without manifest effort, becoming the nature of a continuous path. "Samadhi with wisdom" means the wisdom that abides in samadhi. The dharma that is spoken of is individual.
