For the great, it is great. The meaning of "without familiarity" is without familiarity. It should be understood that compassion arises in this way through four causes. Through the means of familiarity, one becomes great in all places. Because of compassion, one does not fear suffering; if it is not so, it is not so. To show this meaning, it is said, "For beings, first send forth true compassion," etc. In "not being timid and not being afraid," "not being afraid" means without sorrow. "Not being afraid" means not regretting and not being sad. The suffering that arises in the continuum of others accomplishes four actions for four kinds of individuals. Among them, the most inferior is to generate joy. More excellent than this is to generate sorrow. More excellent than this is to generate sadness. Even more excellent than this is to generate compassion. Therefore, it is said in the praise, "Inferior ones rejoice when they see the suffering of others, mediocre ones generate sorrow because of ignorance, superior and inferior ones generate sadness, supreme being, you have attained compassion." Thus it is proclaimed. In short, the four causes of not fearing suffering are established from the perspective of physical strength and mental strength. Among them, the physical strength with causes is explained as, "Having great courage and being stable, therefore having strength," etc. Great courage, bravery, fortitude, and having mental strength have the same meaning. Some say that courage is a difference of diligence. Moreover, it is divided into two types: those with afflictions and those without afflictions. Among them, the action of those with afflictions is bravery in battle. The action of those without afflictions is bravery in giving. Therefore, it is said, "Giving to sentient beings themselves and engaging in battle with them, knowing what should and should not be done because of surpassing courage." Thus it is said. Stability means calmness, which is a difference of the great elements. Others think it is a difference of wisdom. This is not reasonable, because its distinctions have been separately explained elsewhere.

of the reason. Whoever possesses both of these will certainly and naturally possess physical strength, so it is said to have strength. There are three types of mental strength: the strength of wisdom, the strength of special devotion, and the strength of compassion. In order to show the first strength, the so-called "having the nature of correct thinking" means to fully discern the faults and merits of the past and the future, and is the nature of having correct thinking. After examining it in this way, one will not be afraid of the suffering of samsara. As it is shown in the scriptures: "Entering the wives of others, becoming cows, deer, and sheep when old, and when becoming like that, one will experience various meaningless sufferings." This shows that one will experience countless kinds of suffering in samsara, and it is because of doing unnecessary and improper actions that one becomes like that. Therefore, to completely renounce for the benefit of others, even if one experiences the suffering of hell, is worthy of praise, and one should think about it in this way. This very meaning, possessing the diligent wisdom to benefit the three realms, is worthy of praise even in the evil realms. One should follow this praise to understand. After thinking about it in this way, even if sentient beings act perversely and give suffering, one should think that these sentient beings are without autonomy, are controlled by afflictions, and are possessed by the demons of afflictions, so they do such improper actions. Therefore, one must liberate these sentient beings from the demons of afflictions, and one must also examine it in this way. As the verse says: "How the inferior are possessed by demons, in order to eliminate the demons." One should follow this verse to understand. Examining it in this way, one will not be afraid of the suffering of asceticism. Just by being human, one possesses intention, diligence, mind, and discrimination, and thus does such actions, and gradually becomes a Buddha through the order of habit. I also only feel that it is asceticism because I am not used to it. Therefore, I must gradually get used to it and practice, and I must think about it in this way. No matter what is obtained, the world
