The term "vast" refers to the words of the extremely profound Dharma that were not fully understood before, but are fully understood through wisdom, thereby obtaining joy and great joy. The phrase "relying on hearing the words of the Dharani" means that relying on it, the patience of the Bodhisattva arises. To explain that by generating it, one can fully realize the ground, it is said, "Also by obtaining it," and so on. Concordant patience has three divisions, such as small. To show the great state of these, it is said, "He will abide in great patience," and so on. Therefore, one will surely be able to fully attain the first ground, because it has become one through a special combination. The teaching is without decay. Vastness means that one can understand a hundred doors of Dharma in an instant, which is explained by these words. The phrase "until then" means that on the ground of adhimukti-carya, attainment is uncertain; through the power of aspiration and the power of samadhi, one out of a hundred can be attained. Not being stable is also because it will decline. Not being vast is also because it is small. The phrase "just as it is said" means that the ground of adhimukti-carya is attained through its certainty. By the Bodhisattva possessing four qualities, one will obtain all the words of the Dharani. To explain the cause of obtaining the words of the Dharani, it is said, "By possessing four qualities, one will obtain all these Dharanis," and so on, which is equality to oneself and others. The four dharmas that are discordant are: being attached to desires, being attached to body, enjoyment, and life; being unable to bear the prosperity of others, being jealous, and being possessive and stingy; these three, and not liking the true Dharma. Corresponding to their antidotes are four qualities: one will not be particularly attached to desires, which means that if one strives diligently and generates desire, then one must abandon family, wife, and enjoyment, thereby explaining how to strive diligently and enter and renounce. Jealousy

With the words "not being overwhelmed by jealousy and stinginess," not generating jealousy means cultivating the antidotes to it extensively, rejoicing in the prosperity of others and rejoicing accordingly. "Completely giving away all that is requested" means having no attachment to inner possessions such as oneself. "Giving without regret" means having no regret later. These are said to be the ways to rely on the antidotes to stinginess. Always having listening to the Dharma and so forth, therefore, rejoicing in the Dharma in general. Completely abandoning all things in order to seek the Dharma is delighting in the Dharma. The aspirations of Bodhisattvas are immeasurable, but to summarize, it is a summary statement. That which is the essence of all aspirations is the aspiration of generating the mind of enlightenment, because it is the most excellent of all aspirations. The nature of aspiration is to manifestly create the mind through the gateway of qualities, as it is said. Planting aspirations and arising in the place where the benefit of many sentient beings will be accomplished is called the aspiration of birth. The field of activity of Bodhisattvas is calm abiding and insight. Planting aspirations for this purpose is called the aspiration of the field of activity. Being skilled in distinguishing the profound and vast Dharma, and so forth, is the aspiration of distinguishing the Dharma. With the aspect of "loving-kindness towards all sentient beings" and so forth, it is the aspiration of the field of activity of meditating on the immeasurable. That which is perfectly encompassed by the perfections such as generosity is the true aspiration, because it is the antidote to all faults and is in accordance with the benefit of oneself and others. That which is completely encompassed by the aspirations taught in this way from the true aspiration is called the ten great aspirations. That great aspiration should also be understood by following the treatise of the Ten Bhumi Sutra. All aspects of offerings should be received as taught in the chapter on offerings, the offerings and service to the Tathagatas are immeasurable.
