These are the ten aspects previously shown. The extensive display is the latter six aspects. Because all Tathagatas and all Bodhisattvas speak, and upon hearing, one can retain it, it is called a dharani. Such mindfulness means that in the stage of practice with faith, from the display of the accumulation of merit and wisdom gathered in the stages of giving, etc., until the stage of increasing it, it is mindfulness unmixed with unfavorable qualities, or one will obtain unprecedented wisdom. Because it is not overcome by unfavorable factors, one will obtain the generation of strength. "Just by hearing" means because there has been no repeated familiarization. Therefore, it is said "unfamiliar." Therefore, it is said, "Because it is unfamiliar, the words and meanings have not been clarified," meaning that it has not been made familiar by constantly practicing the actions of words and meanings. "To hold onto names, etc." refers to the different names for the nature of interpreting meaning with sound. Arranging in order refers to showing verses. Connecting in sequence refers to showing prose. "Immeasurable texts" refers to the measure of texts such as the hundred thousand verse texts. "Immeasurable time" refers to the time until obtaining unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment. Thus, the Dharma dharani is shown in three ways: holding onto names, sentences, and letters in sequence, holding onto immeasurable texts, and holding onto immeasurable time. "Similar to the former" refers to such mindfulness, etc. Those dharmas, whatever the meaning of sleep, even if they have not been familiarized with, can be held in mind until the very end. "In order to completely pacify within an epidemic" means that just by reciting, one can completely pacify the epidemic. "Blessing" refers to speaking based on obtaining mastery over samadhi. "Supremely established" means showing that it will definitely be accomplished. "Meaningful" means showing that it will be permanently and definitely accomplished.

Speech is true and in accordance with reality, therefore it is the wisdom that precedes thorough understanding. It is called forbearance because it can endure the great aspect of selflessness. Furthermore, to show that it is included in the path of accumulation, it is said, "Extremely diligent in the cause," which means that in the stage of aspiring conduct, one accumulates well the collections of merit and wisdom. "Possessing wisdom" means showing that one abides in uncommon awareness. "Dwelling in solitude" means that one's body is completely solitary in that way, and one guards the doors of the senses. "Also not speaking" means delighting in not speaking much. "Not meeting with anyone" means dwelling without reliance. "Eating neither too little nor too much" is therefore called eating moderately. "Eating at a fixed time" means not eating haphazardly. "Not eating unhelpful things and mixtures" means eating one kind of food. Thus, it shows the uncommon knowing of measure in food. With the three phrases beginning with "exerting effort," it shows that one is endowed with and in accordance with a non-sleeper who is far superior to the Hearers and so forth. "Spoken by the Tathagata" means that one has not heard what all the Tathagatas have spoken, and one has not heard from anyone else that their speech is meaningless. "No meaning is accomplished" means that it is truly held together by the connection between what is said and what can be said. "If one examines what all the Tathagatas have said, then they are meaningless," therefore they are meaningless. That being so, it means that even if one examines it for a long time, there is no other meaning than the inexpressible meaning as shown, so one does not make it chaotic. In this way, one will be able to understand well that the meaning of mantra is inexpressible. "Following that meaning" means that just as the collections of mantras are inexpressible, so too all phenomena are beyond the realm of speech. Having not heard it before, one will thoroughly understand the inexpressible meaning. The nature of inexpressibility is that the meaning of these is inexpressible because it is not perfectly accomplished.
