One should not ridicule where it is inappropriate to ridicule. The saying 'one should not utter untimely words' means that even to someone who is very close, one should not speak unpleasant words. If so, then they are the ones who understand the ways of the world. In order to show understanding of the ways of the world through the gate of patience, one should not be angry even with those who cause harm. Why is it said like that? It means one should not be angry. To show that even if one is angry, one should not speak evil words, it is said, 'one should not reveal faults'. To show that one should not be angry with those who are angry, and one should not strike back if struck, it is said, 'with the body and speech of others, etc.' The saying 'even if one is humiliated' means being struck and reviled. To show the reason for this, it is said, 'by keeping the nature of reality in mind, or by considering that harm is done by those of childish nature, one dwells greatly in patience'. To show that the mind is firm, etc., just as before, even at the time of being harmed, one endures with the body, etc., and by showing patience, one is not violent. Therefore, it is said, 'is firm, etc.' To show that the understanding of the ways of the world that truly accomplishes oneself is that even having become a householder and dwelling in such a way, one should act in such a way. To show that one is free from the fourteen limits of defiled actions, etc., the limit of defiled actions means the limit of non-virtuous actions. Among them, the words of the sutra are: 'These four sons of householders are the afflictions of actions to be abandoned: killing, taking what is not given, sexual misconduct, and lying.' One creates sinful actions in four places: desire, hatred, fear, and ignorance. There are six doors through which enjoyment is exhausted: attachment to alcohol and concocted alcohol and places of intoxication and recklessness, attachment to wandering around at untimely nights, attachment to watching dramas and gatherings, attachment to gambling and dice games, and associating with evil friends.

Being attached to that, and being completely attached to laziness and idleness. By abandoning these fourteen limits of defiled actions, one will attain freedom from the fourteen limits of defiled actions. Covering with the six directions is a term for vows to be upheld. Bowing to the six directions, making offerings. After bowing and making offerings, they will each be loving. The east is the mother and father. The south is the teacher and the Khenpo. The west is the son and wife. The north is friends and ministers, and so on. The bottom is servants, and so on. The top is monks and Brahmins. It is said that the four evil friends are abandoned, and the four evil friends are stealing the wealth of others, abiding as evil friends in the form of virtuous friends, speaking false words, only speaking sweetly, and friends who do not have the means. The four virtuous friends are those who do good, share happiness and suffering together, indicate the right path, and have loving hearts. These explanations are as they appear in the Sutra of the Crest Jewel. From the enjoyment and extremely complete benefits that are in accordance with the Dharma in this life, because they have worldly wisdom. Starting from the practice of taking the limits of right action, because they are able to accomplish it, they completely abandon laziness and so on. Starting from complete protection, they have complete protection, and merely abandoning taking up weapons and so on, they are able to protect wealth well. In terms of enjoyment, in terms of living in harmony, one is also satisfied, until one learns extensively, and it is shown in segmented verses. Therefore, mastery is attained. Because they do not deceive others, they are not in a state of enticing others, in order to show that they have worldly wisdom. Because they do not deceive others by measuring and so on, they are without deceit. Because they are ashamed of such actions, they are without falsehood. Because they follow places and so on, their behavior is perfect.
