Giving up the happiness of one's own experience and applying oneself to the benefit of others is called (abandoning one's own comfort for the benefit of others). Because there is no loss of mindfulness, and there is no lack of individual correct knowledge, there is no hesitation in speaking the Dharma, therefore it is called fearlessness. Because of enduring the harm done by others, it is shown to have patience, therefore, even if insulted, ridiculed, despised, or spoken of badly, one does not change, but thinks of the benefit of others, and does not respond to anger with anger. Even if others curse and speak evil words, one will not be angry with others, nor will one have evil thoughts in one's mind. One will not be discouraged by beatings and so on, because one has obtained the power of the body. Because of the power of individual discernment, the mind will not be completely discouraged, which is called having many individual discernments. Therefore it is said, starting from "without fatigue" etc., because it is virtuous speech, it will be explained in detail starting from "perfection" etc. In short, it is speech that does not violate the nature of Dharma, that arises continuously without deception, and that is clear and distinct in its letters. Such a virtuous friend with eight branches is shown to be able to benefit others in all ways. The so-called "action is meaningful" is because it can surely accomplish benefit. These five meaningful aspects should be understood by following the previously mentioned limbs. The loving one is the one who desires benefit and happiness. The well-learned one is the one who thoroughly understands the correct meaning. The one with realization is the one whose wisdom does not become inverted. Fearless and clear speech refers to what method and what way of teaching the Dharma can tame what kind of sentient beings. Perfect diligence is when the mind is not completely discouraged. Because of having patience, one does not fall to any side. Thus, with the intention of desiring benefit, and with the perfect way of teaching, one knows the meaning of scripture and realization as they are, and knows the method of taming, and initiates diligence, and fully reveals the equanimity of mind.

If seeing and hearing also make the mind rejoice, this indicates a place of faith. For the mind to be completely pacified, behavior is completely pacified and perfect, the limbs do not change, so it is extremely beautiful. For the sake of completely pacifying the actions of the body and so on, the senses are pacified and do not move, so they are stable, because body, speech, and mind are without wavering. Because one does not rely on obtaining from others, etc., there is no hypocrisy. There is no jealousy towards those who have completely transformed gain and respect, and those who have completely obtained them. Just as one rejoices in obtaining gain and respect for oneself, one rejoices even more when others obtain them, so there is no jealousy. Thus, it is clearly shown from thought and action itself that there is no jealousy. Because one is not very greedy for wealth, one reduces possessions. The reduction of possessions itself is also indicated by "completely giving away all that is obtained." If it is assumed that the discipline of higher morality is lost and behavior is lost, and one is urged by the five paths of words such as seeing, this is called admonishing. Remembering the laws of downfall or all dharmas is called remembering. Because of extreme solitude, whatever instructions on shamatha and vipassana are not inverted are shown, this is called instructing. If one knows that those who have been correctly taught from the Dharma and Vinaya have transgressed, from rebuke to expulsion, whether one does or does not do what should and should not be done, one shows and follows accordingly, this is called showing and following accordingly. From time to time, one ripens sentient beings with words of past deeds and words of correct proclamation, and because one is skilled in elaborately explaining the Dharma with pure and complete words and letters, up to the collection of paths that make one a wise person, it is called teaching the Dharma. For example, one should know from the Hearer's Ground. If one asks how to understand, it is explained that one should know in detail from the chapter on the qualities of merit. Relying on a virtuous friend is
