It is due to the very act of not being obvious, and because it is combined with the object of the collection of perfections. In order to show that offering with material things is not as great as offering with practice, it says, "One hundredth of that offering," and so on. Regarding "Offering to the Dharma and offering to the Sangha should also be understood accordingly," it means that apart from offering to stupas, the remaining offering to the Dharma and offering to the Sangha should be spoken of. Having the superior intention has already been explained before. In order to show the difference of that intention, regarding "It is done by six," the superior intention of the field of qualities is because it is the unsurpassed field of merit. The superior intention of benefiting is because it is well distinguished by accomplishing great benefit in every way. The most excellent superior intention is because it is the most excellent of all sentient beings. The rare superior intention is because it is sometimes obtained. The rare superior intention is because it appears only once in the three thousand great thousand world realms. The dependent superior intention is because it depends on the qualities of all aspects of meaning, both mundane and supramundane. Regarding "Offering to his Dharma or his Shravaka Sangha," it means that the Dharma and the Sangha are also the same, and the Dharma and the Sangha should also be offered with the same superior intention, which is due to the relationship between the teacher, the teaching, and the disciples. The spiritual friend should be established in seven ways: establishing the limbs, establishing the meaningfulness of the activity, establishing dwelling in the place of the basis of faith, definitely establishing the activity of the spiritual friend, relying on the spiritual friend and proclaiming the act of listening to the Dharma, and establishing the place of non-attention. The eight limbs are established considering the cause of entering for the sake of benefiting others, and the absence of the cause of turning back. One will enter into benefiting others in four ways: namely, being worthy of receiving words, being very learned, having realization, and the mind...

The meaning of 'na' is desire itself. Four causes lead to turning away from benefiting others: even if one possesses these four causes, one will fear due to lack of courage, be unable to endure suffering, experience much fatigue and utter dejection, and have incomplete verbal expression. Possessing the four causes that are the opposite of these will not lead to turning away from benefiting others. Furthermore, the eight limbs clearly show the three qualities of a virtuous friend: words worthy of being heard, possessing the quality of accomplishing the benefit of others, and possessing the action of accomplishing the benefit of others. These correspond to the first, third, and fourth limbs respectively. Abiding in discipline makes one's words worthy of being heard. Because one has well taken the vows of a Bodhisattva's discipline, one abides in all disciplines. To protect these, one does not let them decline. To correct faults that have arisen, one makes them without defect. Thus, by properly taking, protecting, and correcting, it is clearly shown that one abides in discipline. If one has heard many teachings of the scriptures, and understands them through intelligence, this is called 'much hearing.' Starting from the Bodhisattva's Pitaka, any Dharma that clearly expresses the Bodhisattva's path is used to express it. Having heard much Dharma in this way, holding it, reciting it, then carefully contemplating it with the mind, and fully understanding it through observation, this is called 'much hearing.' Possessing the meditation of tranquility and insight is called possessing realization. From the first dhyana to the realm of neither perception nor non-perception, as well as the four immeasurables such as loving-kindness, and various samadhis of Bodhisattvas, obtaining these is called obtaining tranquility. From the perception of impermanence to the perception of cessation, obtaining these is called obtaining insight. Because one has the thought of benefiting and bringing happiness to sentient beings, one is called having a loving heart. Striving to accomplish the benefit of others without regard for oneself is having compassion. Therefore, it is said, 'Having abandoned one's own happiness.'
