The wonderful and rare teachings of the Tathagata are obtained. Because of engaging in giving and so on in every way, the fruit is that gods and humans make offerings in every way. Because of relying on the noble being, one becomes the most noble of all sentient beings. It should be understood that the words of the sutras are taught in terms of their definitive meaning. The phrase "to walk properly with feet" has a guiding meaning. The twelve inversions are called feet, because they go to existence again, and because they go and move by this. Because those are abandoned without remainder, the Arhat is without feet. The Non-returner is two-footed, because he perceives the suffering of existence as happiness, and always acts in an inverted way. If he always acts with the perception and mind of suffering alone, then he will not obtain rebirth in existence. Therefore, he is two-footed because he always acts with those. The four-footed one is the noble Hearer who has not separated from desire, because they perceive purity in sexual desire, which is characterized by impurity, and because they have an inverted mind and an inverted mind that perceives the suffering of existence as happiness. The foot-bound one is an ordinary person, because he has not abandoned everything. Moreover, it is divided into form and formless by the division of realms and births. Entering the four mental aggregates from form is with perception. The opposite of that is without perception. Similarly, the formless one who always practices unclear perception is neither with perception nor without perception. In this way, the superiority of the Arhat, the learner, and the worldling who is free from desire will be revealed. Otherwise, this establishment is not beautiful and does not conform. The signs are because they are completely grasped by immeasurable merit, because each sign is accomplished by a hundred merits. Abiding at the Bodhi tree, one obtains the result of being free from harm and so on by demons and opponents.
