Thus it is. Deceptive and extremely deteriorated language of self-nature, with such words causes suffering to sentient beings. Conversely, the aspect of not deceiving regarding desires is the eight kinds of speech. Completely pure verbal conduct is speaking pleasantly of what is lacking and desirable. Relying on four kinds of extremely pure speech, it is said to clarify the cause of the speech of the noble ones. With four kinds of completely pure verbal conduct, the eight kinds of speech of the noble ones are established. One should not think that it is not so for others. Speaking pleasant words of happiness in this world and the next is established in terms of abandoning poverty and accomplishing perfection. In short, poverty is of two kinds, namely, obtaining in this world and obtaining in the next world. Also, by the difference of cause and effect, it is called poverty of cause and poverty of effect. The first has three kinds, namely, the poverty of relatives passing away or separation from loved ones, and for those in such a situation, speaking pleasant words that eliminate sorrow by proclaiming death and impermanence, and the deterioration of pleasing enjoyment and use, such as fire burning enjoyment, eliminating sorrow, as before. Because of the manifestation of illness, for those who are impoverished by being without illness, by proclaiming the power of individual observation and the patience to endure suffering. The second kind of poverty has two kinds, namely, conduct arising from the deterioration of discipline and inverted attachment. In order to abandon those two, speaking the true words of discipline and the true words of wisdom is pleasant speech. Accomplishing perfection is being in accordance with the training of discipline, which is teaching the monks to train completely purely in the four lineages of training. In the chapter on lineage, it is called conforming, etc. Whatever is pleasant speech is also meaningful conduct, because whatever is pleasant speech, what should be accomplished in that place is also the meaningful conduct of desire, hence it is called meaningful conduct.

It should be known. Therefore, it is said that "beneficial conduct" is to distinguish false speech. For example, lying and other words are also false speech, because they are afflictive. Afflictive words are false speech, which is said in this sentence. If that is the case, it would be a fault that all four verbal misconducts are not beneficial conduct. In order to avoid this fault, just like distinguishing lying and other false speech that become other paths. Here, even if pleasant speech itself is the characteristic of beneficial conduct, it is said "there are other beneficial conducts distinguished from that" etc. in order to distinguish the four different objects of gathering. In order to explain those two, like "Bodhisattva is" etc. Those who have pleasant speech should speak pleasant speech, because that is the means of gathering sentient beings. Correct teaching is to be followed and taken as one's own. In that way, the order will be revealed. It means that after pleasant speech, one will enter into words that are in accordance with the meaning. The so-called "training" refers to the three trainings such as higher morality training. Those should also be distinguished by ten kinds of beneficial conduct, and should be distinguished by ten reasons. Therefore, considering that the meaning is completely fulfilled in various ways, it is said that "the nature of beneficial conduct should be understood as distinguishing, considering the complete mastery of the main part of the meaning." What are the ten reasons? Because it is the cause of the three vows. The three vows are the vows that protect against the destruction of precepts, the vows that protect against objects, and the vows that protect against afflictions. Also because it is the cause of the three pure conducts. The three pure conducts are taking the vow of wrong conduct, not completely abandoning, and completely abandoning. Also because it is the antidote to the three all-pervasive afflictions, the three all-pervasive afflictions are the all-pervasive afflictions of misconduct, the all-pervasive afflictions of those who commit sins. The following all-pervasive affliction is that
