By seeing and meditating on the three kinds of distinctions as appropriate, one will definitely attain perfect goodness by abandoning the afflictions to be abandoned. In this way, perfect goodness will definitely be attained, which is called "the wealth of the other shore." Possessing all qualities can be understood from twenty aspects. The so-called "benefiting with the most excellent benefit" refers to the last of the three pleasing speeches being the most excellent. Therefore, pleasing speech itself should also be understood from three aspects: inferior, intermediate, and most excellent. The so-called "detailed distinction" means vastness. The so-called "in brief" means briefly indicating. The so-called "possessing worldly customs" means summarizing with worldly ways. The so-called "possessing the teaching of Dharma" refers to its essence. Difficult pleasing speech should be established from three aspects. For those sentient beings who cause intense harm, wanting to retaliate with harm, merely generating a loving heart can suppress it; for those who are very ignorant and dull-witted, approaching with a compassionate heart, suppressing sorrow, and thus showing benefit and happiness; for those who, in the field of merit, have falsehood and deception present, and who commit great evil deeds, do not generate harmful thoughts. How are these three kinds of speech difficult to do as they should be? To show causing great harm, it is said "killing" and so on. "Killing" is cutting off life. "Opponent" is cutting off enjoyment. "Enemy" is robbing a wife. Another classification, cutting off virtuous deeds is "opponent." Wanting non-benefit and non-meaning is "enemy." Pleasing speech entering from four doors, in brief, should be established by the actions of three kinds of people. These three kinds of people are: those who are obviously inclined towards accomplishment, those who turn their backs on accomplishment, and those who want to accomplish but do not know the method. Among them, for those who are obviously inclined towards accomplishment, there are also two kinds: those whose continuum has not yet matured and those whose continuum has already matured. For those whose continuum has not yet matured, when generating the path, they will always engage with obstacles.

In order to gain joy and delight in the Dharma, and thereby make the continuum a vessel for the Dharma, the nine preliminary practices, such as teaching the words of generosity, are taught. The complete ripening of the continuum is when the mind is joyful, without obstacles, and full of delight. In order to generate the noble path, and to be liberated from decline, the Four Noble Truths, which lead to correct guidance, are taught. Turning one's back on practice is also of two types: householders and renunciates. Among them, householders, because they are attached to desires and are unrestrained, do not cultivate virtuous dharmas. Renunciates, on the other hand, are attached to gain and respect. Furthermore, householders engage in non-virtuous dharmas, while renunciates engage in dharmas that have not been permitted. Since both types of unrestrained individuals do not cultivate virtuous dharmas, they should be exhorted with loving-kindness, in accordance with the time, with the desire for their benefit, and with pleasing words, saying: "Since you have obtained a human body, been born in a noble family, have complete faculties, have not acted perversely, and have gained faith in the teachings of the Tathagata, why do you, like this, engage in perverse actions and engage in meaningless things?" They should be exhorted with gentle words. For those who do not know skillful means, all doubts arise, that is, for those who are hesitant about the Dharma, in order to cut off the doubts that arise again and again, it should be shown through the teachings and the near teachings, that is, by teaching the Dharma and clarifying the related words. The so-called "sweet speech of the supreme person" refers to the sweet speech of the noble ones. Showing it through the unique way of the noble ones, that is, by fully showing the Dharma in five ways. The phrase "a Bodhisattva becoming a Bodhisattva" refers to abiding on the great earth, with one's own essence abiding in the body. The phrase "becoming a Tathagata" refers to abiding in the manner of a manifestation body of the Buddha. Showing the uncommon aspects should be understood in five ways, based on the rules of the Vinaya and the Sutras.
