It is to summarize all aspects and to show each aspect. Because it always enters, it is called constant diligence. Because it has a strong desire to combine, it is called respectful diligence. Because it arises universally from the power of the cause of the state of the land practiced by faith, it is called the diligence corresponding to the cause. Because it is not overcome by the unfavorable aspects that have arisen and will arise, it is called diligence arising from combination. Because it is not shaken by all the fierce and rough painful touches, and there is no weariness, it is called undisturbed diligence. The very act of initiating diligence and proceeding until the ultimate fruit is reached is called diligence that does not know satisfaction. These six kinds of diligence are properly combined with the six sentences of the Sutra: The very act of initiating diligence is called constant diligence. It is called respectful diligence in order to obtain the power and strength of diligence. Because it has the diligence corresponding to the cause of the combination of excellent diligence, it is called the diligence corresponding to the cause. Because it overcomes the unfavorable aspects with the power of the antidote and has joy, it is called diligence arising from combination. Because it relies on tenacity, it is called undisturbed diligence. Because it is not satisfied with a small meaning, it is called not abandoning diligence. With what diligence does one have a strong desire for unsurpassed perfect enlightenment and make many aspirations, that is, the armor diligence with desire. The unfavorable aspects of not having arisen virtuous thoughts are in accordance with the antidote aspects of afflictions, so it is said. Because it has correspondence by completely eliminating the two kinds of defilements, the virtuous dharmas that have arisen abide in not being taken away, and because they are not ignorant, they abide as they are, and it is to go for increase and elimination. Because it does not abide together with the afflictions that have arisen and carries out elimination, it is the nature of the antidote, and because it has excellence, it is called excellent. It is the combination of the place of manifest realization of knowledge.

Because of entering through the door, and because of entering from the path that leads to obtaining it, one is called a seeker who draws near and seeks. Because of meditating and striving on the subjects of knowledge that have been comprehended, learning is called the diligence of learning. Because it possesses the activity of benefiting all sentient beings, it is called the diligence of benefiting others. The activity of restoring oneself from committed faults is the diligence of completely guarding. Manifest aspiration and desire go before, and the diligence of obtaining and abandoning the opposing side and the unfavorable side, and the diligence of striving on the Dharma of scripture and realization, and the diligence of striving for the benefit of sentient beings, and the diligence of guarding the precepts that are followed. These seven diligences should be understood as appropriate according to circumstances. What is called "like patience" is in eight aspects. Patience towards suffering sentient beings who come for the sake of begging is shown here by diligence and so on; it is the same for other sentient beings as well. Because it is a practice that is in accordance with conduct. In order to show what is suitable, it says "by what and by what" and so on. In order to connect with things that have been thoroughly familiar for a long time, it says "habit" and so on. In order to connect respectfully without interruption even in the future, it says "non-negligence." Even oneself, at the time when one does not cling to the highest view, or at the time when one receives instructions and teachings from others and practices them, because of the power of the non-reverting view, it is a practice that accurately represents, therefore it is called "well grasped." In order to practice at the time of meditating on signs, it is taught as "diligence in becoming accustomed at the right time." Being skilled in the six aspects is called the diligence of having awareness of signs. The sign itself, also, is completely understood as it is from the very beginning, thereby closely representing, and at the time of accurately grasping the signs and representing them without forgetting, one completely understands and thoroughly comprehends. Profound means the diligence of comprehending the meaning of that very thing. In order to comprehend the powers, therefore...
