In order to subdue and to ripen all sentient beings, there should be no practice of asceticism, because there is no more excellent way to enter than this. Discouragement is to give up at the beginning. It is necessary to practice asceticism because at the time of practice, one will feel powerless and think that I cannot do it, because everything gradually becomes comfortable. To practice the six perfections, as well as to realize them, and the diligence of entering, this is called the diligence of accumulating virtue. Know that each one is also summarized in seven ways, and if these seven ways are briefly summarized, they can be summarized in three ways. One must generate with steadfast strength, as well as the difference in practice, and how to combine them appropriately with places and so on. The so-called "immovable" is steadfast, because it cannot be overwhelmed by all unfavorable things. All unfavorable things can also be summarized into two types, namely those that belong to one's own continuum and those that belong to others' continuum. There are also two types that belong to one's own continuum, namely those without afflictions and those with afflictions. Among them, if one has a feeling of aversion to the suffering of samsara and the evil deeds of sentient beings, then diligence will be lost, that is, diligence will become unstable. The opposite of this is steadfastness, that is, abiding. Because of abiding, it is immovable. Those with afflictions are afflictions and near afflictions, because they are not moved by these, so they are steadfast. There are also two types that belong to others' continuum, even if they are hindered by those who hate and harm this teaching.

Because of fully realizing Suchness, and also because of being separated from afflictions, it possesses skillful means. Because it is applied to great meaning, it is called true diligence. Because it is constantly applied and enters extensively, it is called extensive. Because it is separated from the fault of arrogance and shows invincibility, these seven aspects show the manner of diligence. In order to show the fruit of practicing diligence properly, the cause and effect are complete, and one can quickly attain the unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment. In order to show that the root of all the accumulations of enlightenment is diligence, because generosity and so on are its cause. Therefore, it is said, "Because of what" and so on. The so-called "showing and demonstrating" is because Ananda, diligence is the root of the cause of enlightenment, this is what the Sutra Pitaka says. Because of obtaining the strength and ability of the body, one applies without regard for enjoyment, body, and life, and cannot endure hardship. Because they are similar, one continuously applies for a long time, and likes to do so is the second kind. Liking to fully realize the equality of diligence, and the difficulty of entering without reversal is the third difficulty. In order to show its cause, it is said, "The cause of these gatherings is" and so on. The so-called "Because of obtaining the power and strength of the body, one applies without regard for body and life" is the first cause. For sentient beings, obtaining the firm power of compassion, in order to eliminate the suffering of sentient beings, one applies until the end of life, this is the application of compassion, and is the second cause of diligence. Because of fully knowing the afflictions that arise and have arisen, it is called diligence without afflictions, the cause of the diligence of equality is wisdom. The so-called "cause of gathering" is the cause of guiding, called accomplishing, is the third cause. The door of all

In terms of diligence, it is encompassed by right exertion, and completely encompassed by the means of perfecting it. Its classification should be understood as being encompassed by two and two. The so-called "abandoning of defiled dharmas" is encompassed by the former right exertions. Generating virtuous dharmas is encompassed by the latter. With completely pure bodily, verbal, and mental conduct, the practice is perfected by the first two right exertions. From the perspective of "completely pure," it is the causal condition for the means of purification. Obtaining the distinction of wisdom, and correctly applying virtuous dharmas, causing wisdom to increase, are the causal conditions for the means of purification by the latter two. The so-called "purification" refers to actions of body, etc., that are completely non-afflicted, because they are entirely virtuous. Because virtuous dharmas, etc., are approached, they are capable of gathering. Arising from the unarisen is called right practice. Those that have arisen becoming superior is called increasing. The diligence of inferior individuals becomes an unfavorable factor, and the diligence of superior individuals should be classified. Inferior individuals will abandon even the aspiration and faith that have arisen. The opposite of this is the superior individual, who will generate aspiration, etc. Inferior individuals will abandon even after starting, because their effort is unstable. Those who are the opposite of this, because they possess the superior effort of returning and beginning, will increase. The words of the sutra, "beginning diligence," mean beginning diligence with the effort of constant practice and respectful practice. Not being cowardly in mind and not being lazy is indeed great joy. Because the result is brought near by non-inverted practice, and in order to show that abandonment is non-inverted by right exertion, like striving to extinguish a fire burning on one's head or clothes, beginning diligence quickly with such effort is diligent practice. Adorned with all kinds of qualities.
