Furthermore, it is for the purpose of engaging in all actions of body, speech, and mind that benefit oneself and others. The establishment of the discipline of a virtuous person is that one also truly takes it up and, with the complete branches of perfect protection, becomes the discipline of a virtuous person from beginning to end. Others are subject to three types of discipline due to the distinctions of ordinary people, jealous people, and those who have truly entered. Among them, the former are made to truly take it up. For the jealous, praise is spoken. It is hoped that when they hear praise and benefits, they will be able to dissipate all tormented thoughts. When those who have truly entered are seen, the mind becomes joyful and there is no competition. Thus, in terms of discipline, the discipline of a virtuous person itself, which possesses the distinctions of actions of body, speech, and mind, is shown. With one classification, six are complete, so there are six. With another classification, seven are complete, so there are seven. Combining both, thirteen are complete, so there are thirteen. Because it is completely dedicated to great enlightenment, the result and benefit are great. Therefore, the result is complete, so it is complete. Vast is because the basis of learning is extensively taken up, so the place is complete, so it is complete. Vast is what should be widely proclaimed. Because the extreme of the decline of desire is completely abandoned, it is separated from the happiness of afflictions, therefore it is faultless. Because the extreme of making oneself weary is completely abandoned, and meaningless suffering is abandoned, therefore it is in accordance with the place of great joy. Because obstacles are completely abandoned, it possesses the training until the end of life, therefore it is constant. It does not rely on gain and respect, and does not degenerate through that, therefore it is unconquerable. Because the discipline established by the Thus-Gone One is excellent, and vows are also truly taken in the places of other non-Buddhists, therefore it is not overcome by external opponents and so on.

Transformed, because there is not that, so it is not overwhelmed by those. It is said in the sutras that practitioners are repeatedly tormented by the harms of practice, therefore, like that, being entangled by afflictions, abandoning the training and regressing, and because of breaking the training, they will be overwhelmed by the near afflictions, and it is taught in order not to be taken away by those forms. Because it has adornment, it is with adornment. For example, the so-called Hearer's Ground is from having faith, being without deceit, having few illnesses, initiating diligence, having wisdom and few desires, etc., until the merits of practice, all are said to be the adornment of discipline, and it is taught in this way in the sutras. If discipline is briefly summarized, there are two types: that which should never be done, and that which is undertaken in order to correctly abandon misdeeds, is the prohibitive discipline; that which must be done, is the training, that is, the discipline of conduct; in order to constantly guard those two with mindfulness, it is the discipline of complete protection. Thus, there are three types. Because it is thoroughly distinguished by the fruit of maturation, it is that which causes maturation. That is also in order to accomplish the characteristics that are appropriate in each ground, similarly, in order to accomplish the samadhi of the bodhisattva, in order to accomplish the realm of gods and humans, and in order to accomplish the fruit of many benefits for sentient beings, it should be known that there are four types. Thus, there are seven types. In order to obtain the equality of self and others, looking at desire and lack, and taking after separately examining, is the discipline of lack and desire. That is also for the antidote to the eight types of suffering, so there are eight types: all sentient beings want to live and do not want to die, therefore they are those who want to live and have life, those who want enjoyment, those who want a wife who is not scolded, those who want not to be redeemed, those who want inseparable servants and attendants, those who want to hear pleasant sounds, those who want to hear meaningful related words, those who want the touch of a pleasant union. The opposite of that.
