Just as poison, without the power to generate faults, does not become a fault. Therefore, drinking alcohol itself is not necessarily a sinful act. Most people drink alcohol to become intoxicated, thinking about how to be happy. Or knowingly drinking to the point of intoxication, these are due to having an afflicted mind, so now committing sins with the body should be understood here. These themselves are the cause of falling into the lower realms. Because there are many faults, it is the basis of the place of negligence. Because one cannot distinguish good from bad when drinking, it is absolutely not allowed. Because those free from desire also use it, what is used by those free from desire is not unwholesome. Those free from desire also drink alcohol, therefore, it is not a natural transgression. The word "etc." indicates food that is not weeping, etc. "Protecting the minds of others" means the synonym of protecting the minds of others. "Those who do not believe" etc., is an explanation of it, in order to generate faith in the learners for those who do not believe, and also to increase the faith of those who already have faith. The so-called "that" refers to anything that the Bhagavan has not allowed. The so-called "learning equally" means that those of the Hearer Vehicle cannot do it, and those of the Bodhisattva Vehicle cannot do it either. Therefore, it will become the same. The reason for becoming the same is indicated by "Why is that?" etc. The so-called "focusing on one's own benefit" means focusing on taming oneself. The so-called "not considering the benefit of others" means that although they do not enter for the benefit of others, if they enter in order to generate faith in others, then those who enter for the benefit of others, the Bodhisattvas, will of course consider the benefit of others. The so-called "starting from few desires" means through the way of few desires. The so-called "few activities" means that if one possesses many resources, activities will become many, in order to avoid this situation. The so-called "abiding in a small mind" refers to the noble ones.

Dwelling in the lineage, Bodhisattvas enter for the benefit and happiness of all sentient beings, dedicating themselves to the welfare of others. However, it is not beautiful to dwell in contentment with little desire, doing little, and being narrow-minded. Therefore, because the benefit of others is one's own benefit, Bodhisattvas must strive to learn the welfare of others and should not refuse Brahmins and householders who do not come near. For the Hearers (Śrāvakas), it is stipulated that it is not allowed. Even in cases where many robes are permitted, it is stipulated that only two robes may be taken. The same applies to begging bowls. It is also the same to take coarse cloth and have it woven by a weaver who does not come near. It is also the same that one should not cut silk and cotton cushions and cushions filled with cotton. It is also the same that one should not accept gold and silver, etc. For these precepts and related regulations, the training of Bodhisattvas and Hearers is not the same. If one trains like a Hearer, it will be faulty. These rules are permitted to Bodhisattvas from the Bodhisattva's Vinaya. Thus, the distinction between the common and uncommon training of Bodhisattvas and Hearers has been explained within the scope of precepts and related regulations. Now, in order to show the difference in the training of Bodhisattvas in terms of their intrinsic transgressions and related regulations, it is said that intrinsic transgressions and related regulations, etc. Relative to Hearers, from the perspective of reputation, it is called intrinsic transgression and related regulations. But for Bodhisattvas, that is not a true intrinsic transgression and related regulations, because it is done with a non-afflicted mind. Skillful means means that if one sees another clearly inclined to commit heinous crimes such as patricide, knowing that the result of that action will be unbearable for a long time, compassion arises. In order to make him give up, one vows to kill him and fall into the hell of sentient beings, abiding in a virtuous and neutral mind, one (takes the place of) sentient beings (to endure) the suffering of hell.
