One should not speak at all, like a mute. For example, just as refuge precedes the vows of the Hearers, so too, in order to show that aspiration precedes the Bodhisattva vows, the aspiration is asked in order to make it firm. One also asks, "Do you wish?" Because it has become a place of learning, it is the basis of learning. Thus, it is taught from the perspective of the place. All the moral conduct of the Bodhisattvas, etc., shows the nature itself. Because it is the determination of all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, one prays that they know that one has become the owner of what has been taken purely and repeatedly in the three times. The term 'dharmata' (ཆོས་ཉིད་) means that there is undoubtedly a distinction in the greatness of taking the vows purely, and because of the distinction in the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas' consideration of the aspiration. Such a sign is the sign of the seat shaking everywhere. When urged by that sign, one will definitely think, 'If someone takes the vows of moral conduct purely at this moment, in which realm of the world, who has taken them?' One will think like that. Seeing with the wisdom that has been sent forth beforehand is wisdom seeing. Or rather, it is wisdom itself that sees, because it is manifest. 'Like a son' refers to the Buddhas. 'Like a brother' refers to the Bodhisattvas. In order to accomplish the meaning without obstruction, they show loving-kindness separately with good intentions. Because they treat it with equanimity, it is indeed an increase. What is meant by 'those Buddhas and Bodhisattvas understand' is a synonym for 'know.' Because it is the most supreme and most magnificent of all purely taken vows, it is particularly excellent. The very fact of being particularly excellent is also shown in four ways: Because there is nothing more superior than it, it is unsurpassed. Because it accumulates immeasurable fruits of merit, it is endowed with an immeasurable mass of merit. Because it is generated by the extraordinary intention of benefiting and bringing happiness to all sentient beings, it is generated by the most virtuous intention of sentient beings.

To act improperly towards the dwelling place of all sentient beings, if one possesses the discipline that is the antidote to all forms of wrongdoing, then towards the dwelling place of all sentient beings, in every way, one will not act improperly with body, speech, and mind, and will not engage in such actions. That which is particularly superior as its antidote is shown through the distinctions of the Pratimoksha vows and so forth. The means of guarding the Bodhisattva who abides in the properly taken vows is also shown by "oneself also" and so forth. To closely examine what should and should not be done by the power of one's own intelligence, and to accomplish what is to be done by body and so forth, this is a part of the Bodhisattva's activity. Likewise, accomplishment itself is the training. In detail, it is taught as the discipline to be guarded in such a way as it is heard from the Bodhisattva Sutra Pitaka, or from the mother text of the Bodhisattva Sutra Pitaka. It is because it shows what should be guarded from what is particularly superior in taking up. The distinction of taking up is shown by the absence of faith and so forth, through the gate of completely abandoning faults, because faith itself possesses the power to generate admiration for this discipline. By its opposing side, it shows the absence of faith itself. Non-admiration is with great non-faith. Non-entering is with medium. Non-thinking is with small. Furthermore, it is shown that one should not be guarded from also possessing six faults by abiding in the opposing side of the six perfections. Because one constantly clings to the body and possessions, one is an attachment holder. Because one is controlled by it, one is overwhelmed by attachment. Such is taking up the opposing side of the perfection of generosity. Having made it under the control of the opposing side of the perfection of discipline, it is said that the discipline is broken. The immoral discipline is shown in two ways. Because one commits the root offense, because it is completely cut off, it is said that the discipline is broken. Because one practices the remaining offenses, because it has been broken, it is said that one does not respect the trainings. Non-respect itself is laxity. Non-patience is

It is explained through the means of intention and action: When engaging in harming, it is anger because the mind is disturbed. From then on, repeatedly disturbing the mind by remembering the harm, it is holding a grudge. In the manner of opposing the four aspects of a virtuous ascetic, it is intolerance of faults. Because there is no joy in virtuous aspects, one is indifferent. Because one rejoices in unfavorable aspects, one is lazy. Rejoicing in unfavorable aspects is itself indicated by terms such as "mostly." Mental wandering occurs because the mind cannot be settled when meditating on calm abiding and the like. Corrupt wisdom is explained in two ways: From pervasive conduct, it is said to be dull-minded and of a deluded nature. Because one cannot fully understand the true nature of well-spoken words and the like, one is dull-minded. Even if one has heard from others, one cannot fully understand, so one is of a deluded nature. Thus, it is explained from pervasive conduct. Being deluded by nature itself is indicated by the term "discouraged." The Bodhisattva Pitaka and the like indicate corrupt wisdom from completely grasping the cause. By slandering the sacred Dharma, wisdom will also become corrupt in other lifetimes. Fully comprehending is expressing in words, and one will also slander those precepts and revile those individuals, because of which one will accumulate great non-merit, so the faults of slander are shown. Among these, clinging manifestly with the mind is view. Pervasively applying its concept to the mind through pervasive conduct is pervasive conceptualization. Announcing the Bodhisattva's training ground beforehand is for the sake of examination. Those training grounds are also briefly explained from the Bodhisattva Ground, so it is said, "From this mother of the Bodhisattva Pitaka." "From the heart" is for generating the power of faith. "Having separately examined" is synonymous with closely examining whether one is capable or not. The opposite of this is indicated by "it is not either" in order to allow the other party to grasp correctly, some.
