Suffering arising from actions: Suffering arising from the mind is also a cause of suffering, and is therefore established as suffering. It is of three types: the suffering of obscuration because of being completely bound by obscurations; the suffering of obstruction because of constantly engaging in conceptualization; and the suffering of defeat because of being reproached by others. For those afflicted by illness, service is performed and offerings are made by giving medicine. For the blind, they are made to reach the desired place, or a path is shown. For the deaf, things to be abandoned and things to be shown are communicated through gestures, and signs of limbs are shown. For those without limbs or without legs, they are made to reach the desired place by one's own body or by a vehicle. By instruction and subsequent guidance, complete entanglement is eliminated. Constantly engaging in conceptualization is also similar to this. For those who are reproached by others, it is eliminated by subsequently contemplating the means of separating from it. Those endowed with special qualities are transformed from the household of a donor of clothes or the household of relatives. Subsequent contemplation of wealth is for those endowed with household wealth. By showing the nature of reality or showing the connection with all worldly phenomena, the suffering of defeat is eliminated. Wrong conduct is the ripening of the fruits of non-virtuous actions, and for all those who are afflicted, it is done in such a way that they are led to turn away from wrong conduct and take up what is right by means of showing the Dharma in order to abandon it. With the eight words beginning with "combining words and syllables," it is shown that answers endowed with four qualities are given to three types of questions. For asking about what is not known, answers are given based on meaning and connection, with meaning and connection that are not inverted. For asking about contradictions, answers are given based on the nature of reality and what comes before and after, with conformity to the nature of reality and revealing the intention. For asking about both, answers are given by making it understandable and showing discipline as it is. Based on attainment, it is in accordance with the manifestation of worldly qualities and the noble path of diligent practice.

This is a response for the benefit of the Sangha. It is called "Diligent Protection" because it is constantly practiced and purified. Because it is constantly respectful, it can protect the mind from all defilements. In addition, the richness of the words is shown by the connection, that is, there is no contradiction between the beginning and the end, and the following is shown by the compliance, that is, it does not violate the Dharma nature, and having the means is shown by the suitability, that is, it is suitable for the cause of taming, and the consistency is shown by the collection of the limbs of diligent protection, that is, it is consistent with the Brahmacharya and makes it clear. For example, when the teaching with five branches is proclaimed, the former can make the latter clear. Profound like the sound of a dragon, etc., these four words, together with the words that follow, show the reply with complete merits. For all questions, there is no contradiction between the beginning and the end, no violation of the Dharma nature, no violation of taming, and it is related to the ultimate meaning. To explain with skillful means is to explain through teaching. Just as the reason is explained in order to abandon the immoral precepts that violate the precepts, so is the giving explained in order to abandon stinginess. In order to accomplish enjoyment, various categories of craftsmanship and business are explained. In order to protect, the act of accumulating wealth and grain is explained in short sentences. For those who have not yet entered the Dharma, they are made to enter through the path of generating faith. For those who have already entered, in order to be completely liberated from the evil destinies, by abandoning the afflictions to be abandoned by the path of seeing, the supreme and correct Dharma is proclaimed. For those who have already attained the path, in order to be liberated from all the sufferings of samsara, by abandoning all the remaining obstacles, they are explained with skillful means. For the benefit of others, for those who want to benefit others many times, they take true joy as the guide, and benefit others by obtaining and accepting respect, and approach with equal or greater benefits to do things for the benefit of others. For those who are doing things, they will go to help them. For those who are suffering, they will completely pacify their suffering. For those who are afraid, they will protect them from fear.
