The eleven types of ethical conduct for benefiting sentient beings are established based on the assumption that there are eleven types of sentient beings. All sentient beings are categorized and determined by eleven types, and following the appropriate actions to benefit them becomes the ethical conduct for benefiting sentient beings. Each type should be understood as immeasurable. What are these eleven types of sentient beings? They are those who help with this and that, those who desire something but suffer and are ignorant of reason, yet desire it; those who want to bestow favor and in return want to bestow favor; those who want to protect the world; those who have become impoverished; those who are tormented by sorrow; those who lack resources and desire them; those who want to rely on Khenpos, Acharyas, and Lamas; those who abide by being embraced; those with a harmonious mind; those who are tamed by harmonious actions; those who have entered the right and wrong paths, and those who should be embraced and subdued; and those who harbor resentment towards the teachings of the Tathagata. Helping, if separated, helping with what should and should not be done, should be understood as having eight aspects. Examining what should and should not be done is for what purpose? Saying "what should be done is thinking," that is, after doing and not doing, seeing prosperity and decline, one thinks about it. From the time this occurs, definitely grasping what should be done is determining what should be done. To show these two situations, one goes to help them. Helping those who are walking on the road without a guide, or without followers; and the combination of pure actions at the end of activities such as those initiated by reason; protecting the enjoyment that has been obtained; mediating disputes between sentient beings; at the time of definitely going to experience the excellence of merit; and at the time of starting to accumulate merit. Sentient beings are tormented by two types of suffering, body and mind. The suffering of the body is of four types: the suffering of disease; the suffering of the decline of faculties; the suffering of missing limbs; and the suffering of labor and fatigue. Mind
