Speaking of the signs of purity: By nature, afflictions are also few, and so on. Afflictions are few. For a long time, afflictions do not arise, or if they do, they disappear immediately. Few obscurations are also the same. Few bad rebirths mean not particularly nourishing the seeds. Speaking of the power of cultivating mindfulness and guarding and increasing vows: When one dwells in extreme solitude and fully contemplates one's own benefit, and so on. When closely contemplating the three objects of purifying conduct, because one possesses the cultivation of mindfulness, if one universally engages in conceptualization, the mind will be agitated. Therefore, when the accumulation is complete, conceptualization cannot transform the mind, so it is said to be completely grasped and not dwelling. Speaking of immeasurable love: Even towards the unfriendly side, and so on. For those with a lineage of few afflictions, even towards the unfriendly side, the thought of accomplishing happiness will arise in the beginning. What need is there to mention others? Speaking of compassion: Beings suffer from various kinds of suffering, I, and so on. When seeing or hearing of situations harmed by various sufferings entered through beating, binding, cutting, stabbing, etc., great compassion arises, and in order to remove those sufferings, one strives to accomplish as much as one can. Speaking of the signs of joy: By nature, one also wishes to benefit beings and wishes for happiness, and so on. Naturally, one wishes for beings to have happiness, and rejoices and is happy for those who have attained happiness. Speaking of the signs of immeasurable equanimity: Even for those who have declined, there is no displeasure, and so on. The decline of oneself and others does not disturb the mind, because one is not obscured by sorrow, and because one can endure all suffering and abide in equanimity.

Speaking of them in terms of their causes, such as "the mind is also subdued," etc., the subduing of the mind, mainly through meditation and immeasurable practices, and these two dharmas called "mindfulness" are extremely beneficial. A mind that is subdued is able to quickly receive and grasp many dharmas that possess meditation, because a subdued mind is a special quality of wisdom and has the ability to contemplate meaning, therefore it can be grasped very easily. Thus, after showing the three functions of subduing the mind, in order to show the function of mindfulness, it is said, "Having passed a long time," etc. In order to show the signs of the perfection of wisdom in terms of the three aspects of wisdom, in order to enter all knowable fields of knowledge through the aspect of being born with it, it is said, "Having innate wisdom." Speaking in terms of what is born from habituation, it is said, "The mind is not dull and the intelligence does not decline," being able to understand the meaning of what is well-spoken and what is poorly spoken. Speaking in terms of what arises from realization, "It is not of the nature of ignorance," that is, because wisdom arises as the antidote to ignorance, which is characterized by ignorance, therefore it is not of the nature of ignorance. In order to show the functions of those wisdoms, "Abandoning those places of carelessness" means completely abandoning all places of fault. "Having the power of discernment" means becoming possessed of the power of discernment. In order to show the signs of the lineage of white dharmas that possess such generosity and right view, it is said, "They are Bodhisattvas," etc. Such signs are signs that infer the existence of lineage. Lineage is the nature of the activity of body, speech, and mind. What can be inferred is because it can be inferred. These show the function of inferring the existence of lineage, but it is not grasping self-nature. Self-nature is

In order to show that complete mastery is the very realm of the Buddha. Regarding the need to ascertain the true meaning, etc., the meaning is "completely grasping the essence." In order to correctly show the fruit that is in accordance with the cause of such a lineage, it is said, "Thus endowed with qualities," etc. Even in the state of not having generated the mind, being perfectly endowed with signs, one will possess such qualities. In the period of entering (the Bodhisattva path), it is good because of diligently accomplishing all the benefits of oneself and others. Because of irreversible effort, it is irredeemable, therefore it is virtuous. In the state of practicing the perfections such as generosity, one possesses white and pure Dharma. In this way, the lineage that is virtuous in the beginning, middle, and end is the cause of the unique qualities of the Buddha himself that will be explained, and only the lineage is, not others. Therefore, it is clearly shown that what is other than lineage is not its cause. Because it is difficult to obtain, it is difficult to generate, that is, because it is obtained by accumulating a great collection of merit and wisdom over a long period of time, and through the six perfections and hundreds of thousands of difficult practices. Because it is adorned with immeasurable and countless qualities, it is the chief. Because it is impossible to show that the number and power are like this, it is inconceivable. Because it is always the nature of the Dharmakaya, it is free from death and change, therefore it is immovable. Because there is nothing higher than that, it is unsurpassed. Furthermore, is it the case that one who possesses such qualities at all times has these signs? In order to show that it is not so, it is said, "A Bodhisattva is as long as..." etc., that is, as long as one has not been completely or partially defiled by the four proximate afflictions, one will continue to possess these signs. If one is overwhelmed by the proximate afflictions, one will not possess these signs. The signs will not appear, that is, from never being born, etc. When a Bodhisattva possesses signs, he will not fall into the lower realms. Proximate afflictions
