It will become a great gain of Dharma, and if it does not become a great realization for the seen Dharma, then through the door of the Dharma treasury, and through the door of being skilled in wisdom, accomplish benefit and happiness for many sentient beings. Therefore, giving only makes one sentient being a beneficiary. Therefore, seeing that the needs of many sentient beings are imminent and not giving, this will not constitute a fault, because there is no fault. There will also be no regret, because afterwards there will be no inner pain. If one has possessions and does not give to beggars, that would be far beyond the conduct of a Bodhisattva, but this situation does not exist here, because it has been considered beforehand. Suddenly saying not to give, this is false speech, therefore it is said, saying 'I will not give to you' and so on. The meaning of skillful means is, how can it not become a lie? That is the meaning. Just as the Shravakas examine their Dharma robes before wearing them, to show this it is said, for example, and so on. Because they are implements examined by the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, even without attachment it is possible, and even with complete attachment, it is possible to abide in the lineage of the noble ones. One will also possess an extremely large accumulation of merit, because all enjoyments are offered to the unsurpassed field of merit. These are the benefits of the Bodhisattva's implements being examined. The third benefit is, without falsehood, to accomplish for the beggars as they wish, and when giving to the beggars, the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas have nothing that they have not given away, to show that this is allowed, it is said, 'For sentient beings, there is nothing that has not been given away' and so on. 'It is not allowed to give to you,' this is said thinking of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. This is because they do not give to non-receptacles. If there are other possessions, after giving them, one should make his mind not feel displeasure, and then give. One should obtain the correct knowledge of various kinds of giving.

This explains the wisdom of the Bodhisattva's giving. The so-called nature of Dharma and material giving refers to their very nature. The term "names" indicates the correct understanding of various Dharmas, such as giving, bestowing, complete giving, meaningful giving, and perfect wealth. These are all names. Similarly, it applies to Dharma giving as well. The term "characteristics" indicates the correct understanding of things individually. Through characteristics, one can understand the giving of the essence of things. The term "definitive words" indicates the correct understanding of each definitive word. Because it cuts off miserliness or eliminates poverty, it is called giving. The phrase "from cause and effect and detailed distinctions" indicates the correct understanding of various kinds of courage. For example, giving food leads to strength, which is like cause and effect. Detailed distinctions include Dharma giving, material giving, giving of inner and outer objects, and so on. Eliminating afflictions through the power of wisdom is to explain the giving of the wise. For those who harm you, abandon hatred and generate loving-kindness. For those who suffer, eliminate harmful thoughts and generate compassion. For those who possess virtues, abandon jealousy and generate joy. For those who help you, abandon attachment and generate equanimity. The so-called "previous habituation" refers to previous lifetimes. Even if one has habituated, but there are few or no things to give, this is the second obstacle to giving. Attachment to objects is the third obstacle. Seeing that great fruits will arise in the future and being overjoyed is the fourth obstacle. Among these, the first three are obstacles to giving, and therefore are hindrances to giving. The fourth is because it contradicts the establishment of Prajnaparamita. In order to combine the contradictory aspects and the opposing aspects oneself. Because why should one give, etc., not being interested in giving is not being happy with giving. Not having done it is because it is something that should be done.
