This body filled with pus is not needed by gods and humans, so by giving it away, one should accomplish benefit and happiness for many gods and humans. Even though the body is worthless or cheap, in order to transform it into a great accumulation of merit that is priceless, one should understand how to take its essence in three ways. Complete giving is for the sake of others' near enjoyment. As it is said: hands, feet, and so on. Similarly, external objects are also taught to be completely relinquished in two ways. Although one sees external enjoyment, it is only seen for a time, and not in all ways is one completely giving away objects. The giving of complete relinquishment is the opposite of that. Even if it is said that a Bodhisattva should give everything, one should consider the distinctions of time, place, and object, therefore it is said: without distinction of everything, and so on. Thus, sometimes one should give everything to some, and sometimes one should not give anything to some, this is the distinction. So, what should be given? That which only becomes a cause of pleasure should not be given, do not engage in non-unifying actions through that means. That which does not cause the three vehicles to be fully ripened, or generates afflicted pleasure, or that which causes death, is neither beneficial nor happy, so it should not be given. That which becomes happiness in both this and the next life, because it is happiness that has been completely transformed, so even if it is not necessarily happiness now, it should definitely be given. Even if it is not immediately happiness, and one does not want it, one should give it involuntarily. To explain briefly, this is a brief explanation of its characteristics. The phrase 'causing harm to others' means that if someone requests the body of a Bodhisattva to help for the purpose of killing others, etc., the Bodhisattva will not agree to help. The phrase 'deceiving others' means for the purpose of deceiving others. The phrase 'if one causes it to be done by generating it in an unreasonable way' refers to a son.

One should not give oneself to the realm of non-existence or engage in sexual acts, etc., so that one becomes subject to them. Why? Because one is endowed with great compassion and has entered for the sake of benefiting others, therefore one is able to give up one's life for others. However, one should not become a companion to help others do harm to others, this is the meaning shown. Even if one starts from giving and the mind is pure, a Bodhisattva, in this case, abandons all things for two reasons: to abandon the firm clinging of one's own miserliness. Even if no one asks for things that give rise to particularly strong attachment, one should still give them away, because the fault of clinging will cause harm. Or for the benefit of sentient beings. Among them, to show that there is no first cause, it is said, "Even if the mind is pure." The mind can be purified in two ways: to make the roots of virtue that counteract them greatly manifest in close succession, such as when the first ground is directly realized and closely abiding, one enters the first ground by obtaining the distinction of realization. To show that there is no second cause, it is said, "If one has closely abided," etc. These show that because there is no cause for giving, one should not give. Because the retinue of demons has the intention of contradicting the gods, etc., and the human body has no need for the gods, one should not give even if they ask. The so-called "harmful to themselves" is because it will become the cause of many non-merits, etc. The so-called "great harm" means that one will obtain unpleasant results. It should be known that one should not give in this way even to those who have been blessed by them. A madman is one who, due to the ripening of karma, is dominated by fear, etc., so he is not peaceful but distracted, his mind does not abide in its own state, it does not abide in its own nature. A confused mind is one that is not controlled. Those who ask with wisdom in advance are not really asking, if they want...
