It is the meaning of clearly showing existence. The nature of lineage and the classification of lineage are to be understood. By showing that it is more excellent than other lineages, it is the meaning of showing that the Bodhisattva is extremely excellent in qualities compared to all the worlds. The difference in the cause of that excellence is fourfold: arising from liberation, arising from the beginning, middle, and end, being born in a good realm, and the difference of being born in a bad realm. Among these, arising from liberation is shown by "from the lineage of all Hearers and Solitary Buddhas," and so on. Arising from the beginning, middle, and end is fourfold: arising from faculties, arising from practice, arising from the wise, and arising from results. Among these, the first is from faculties, the middle is from practice, and the wise and results are from the end. Arising from being born in a good realm is a sign made from the perspective of difference. From the perspective of the difference of arising from being born in a bad realm, the text is "Here, the Bodhisattva after a long time," and so on. Starting from refuting the causes that are incompatible with white Dharma and cannot be obtained, and answering, if Bodhisattvas are naturally endowed with qualities and possess white Dharma, then why are they not always in accordance with white Dharma? The answer given to such a refutation is: As long as none or only some of the four proximate afflictions that are incompatible with the white side of Dharma have become afflictions, it is difficult to generate the inconceivable, immovable, unsurpassed state of the Tathagata, which is the main thing, because it possesses the nature of the cause, but it is not so if it is associated with others. If that indeed exists, why would one not attain the unsurpassed state? The meaning of answering this refutation is: One cannot fully awaken to unsurpassed perfect enlightenment with four causes, and so on. From the place of the foundational yoga of the Bodhisattva ground, the first order is distinguished. Other than that, all the true aspirations are gathered here.

The term "na" indicates that it is shown as a basis for collecting true aspirations other than the generation of Bodhicitta. The phrase "also doing the benefit of all sentient beings" refers to those of the lineage who are completely liberated from suffering. The phrase "establishing all sentient beings in the ultimate cessation of suffering" refers to those of the lineage of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas. The phrase "Tathagata's wisdom" refers to those of the lineage of Buddhas. This generation of Bodhicitta is virtuous. How can it be virtuous? Answer: The nature of all the roots of virtue of the aspects of enlightenment is the nature of wisdom, etc. Because it collects those, it is virtuous. How does it collect? Answer: Because it is the meaning of the initial going of those. Or, because it possesses excellent qualities, it is virtuous, or because it possesses the roots of virtue of wisdom and compassion, and compassion is characterized by the absence of hatred. Similarly, it is only virtuous with two causes, namely, the root of virtue becoming a quality, and the root of virtue being truly combined. Furthermore, because it does not conform to the misconduct of body, speech, and mind that relies on all sentient beings, and because it does not conform to the pervasive arising of truly combining non-virtuous roots, such as killing, etc., which are misconduct, it is also virtuous. Or, it is only virtuous by the virtue of supreme virtue, namely, the root of virtue of the aspects of enlightenment. In this way, truly collecting those is also virtuous because it is the initial going of the dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment. Goodness refers to entering for the benefit of others. It is good because it is immutable. In this way, it will be shown, what is the nature of these five? What is the characteristic of the generation of Bodhicitta? What is the aspect? What is the object and is it truly possessed? With what difference does it arise in the same way as the dharma that is distinguished by difference, which is called the three grounds of lineage, entry, and definite arising, so it is collected by the lineage of the three grounds. Among them, what is shown to be collected by entry is: this generation of Bodhicitta is the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment.

The so-called "root" means "cause." If asked, what is the fruit of what? The answer is: it is the homogeneous cause of compassion. Inconceivable miracles are of three kinds: miraculous power, narration, and instruction. Furthermore, as mentioned in the sutras, when entering a city, the blind regain their sight, etc., is power. From where is this power heard and seen? It is heard and seen from faith, direct perception by प्रमाण (pramāṇa, means of valid cognition), and the teachings of infallible scriptures. The so-called "abiding in whom" is the Tathagata. The so-called "entering into whom" is the Bodhisattva. "Starting from the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment" means that even in the sacred Dharma of the Hearer Vehicle, one listens starting from the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. The Bodhisattva Pitaka is extremely vast. The general meaning of the ten near afflictions is the obstacle to entering, the extreme obstacle to entering, and the obstacle to practice. Among them, there are three causes for entering: superior wisdom, being ashamed of sinful deeds, and having compassion for sentient beings in relation to oneself. The three opposites of these three are the near afflictions: heavy delusion, heavy shamelessness and lack of embarrassment, and heavy jealousy and stinginess. These are the causes of difficulty in entering. Being obscured by the three obscurations is an obscuration in both ways. What is included by suffering is included in the obscuration of maturation. Heavy evil destinies and afflictions are the obscuration of afflictions. Heavy misconduct is the obscuration of karma. Alternatively, suffering and evil destinies are suffering, which is the obscuration of maturation. These three obscurations are the cause of difficulty in entering, because they are obstacles. Heavy carelessness, laziness, and lack of faith are obstacles to practice. Attachment to evil deeds, interruption and degeneration, lack of faith in what should be attained and what can be attained, and not practicing due to carelessness, etc.
