Then, in order to show this meaning, it is said: for the sake of becoming an eye, for the sake of becoming wisdom, for the sake of becoming meaning, and for the sake of becoming dharma. How does it become an eye? Answer: for the sake of establishing a clear meaning. To accurately show the establishment of a clear meaning, as it is said in the Four Hundred Verses by the teacher Aryadeva: Without relying on your teachings, there is no one who can see the truth. I prostrate to you, who have become the eye of the world like the blind. Is it shown by declaring the truth and thereby showing it? Or, it is only by establishing a clear meaning that it becomes an eye, because one must certainly accomplish the meaning that is well shown, it is the meaning that will certainly arise. Just as the form that is completely grasped by appearance becomes fully visible, so too, only the Blessed One becomes apparent, because the meaning is to be clearly established. Therefore, the Blessed One is apparent, as the teacher Aryadeva said in the same Four Hundred Verses: There is the light of fire and lamps, there are moons, stars, and jewels, but without the sun, this earth will not increase with light. Other appearances besides that, or other superior things besides that, even if they exist, without you, this world will become without appearance. Just as the darkness of ignorance completely obstructs the mind with obscuration, I prostrate to you, who have become the appearance of the dark world. As it is taught, therefore, it is said to be appearance only by becoming appearance. How does it become meaning? Answer: It is called for the sake of showing all meanings, all meanings are conditioned and unconditioned phenomena, and so on. It is shown by the meaning of showing "it is like this", because it is shown by wanting to know, and if one does not rely on the Blessed One, one cannot realize it. This is also as the teacher Aryadeva said in the same praise: Meaning is not recognized as meaning, and non-meaning is not recognized as non-meaning, wisdom does not comprehend the Dharma, but relies on you to comprehend. Most people want to abandon non-meaning, but because of ignorance, they will abandon meaning, not knowing

If one desires meaning, non-meaning will be accomplished. Relying on you, various meanings can be realized. To indicate those two, I pay homage to you, who have become meaning. Thus it is said, therefore, you can show all meanings, because those who want to realize what is meaning, what is non-meaning, what is good and non-good, etc., cannot realize without relying on you. How does it become wisdom? Answer: From "not understanding" and so on. "Not understanding" means not knowing. "In order to make understand" means to make understand. This shows the antidote to not knowing. "In order to cut off the doubts arising in those who understand" means that this is the antidote to the knowledge of doubt arising, because it can generate definite knowledge. "Explain the profound places in detail" means that it generates correct knowledge as an antidote to inverted knowledge. "In order to purify the liberated ones completely" means to practice the meaning of the teachings. Here, in the praise of the teacher Makhol, it says: "With complete omniscience of all aspects, all knowable things appear, you are the light of wisdom, I pay homage to the wise." This shows that the antidote to all ignorance, doubtful knowledge, and inverted knowledge is the complete practice of realized knowledge, definite knowledge, and correct knowledge. How does it become Dharma? Answer: Because it is the root of all Dharmas, etc. Dharma is the Sutra Pitaka, chanting, prophecy, verses, self-speaking, cause and condition, simile, deeds, birth stories, Vaipulya, wonderful Dharma, discussion, which belong to the twelve divisions of scripture, because those Dharmas are the root of all Dharmas, so it is the root that the Blessed One first taught. "Because it can guide" means those Dharmas.

Therefore, it guides, and it guides because it is the nature of guiding. Therefore, because the Blessed One alone guides that Dharma, the Blessed One is the Dharma. However, it is said that "the teacher himself is the teacher," because he himself is the teacher, so he is the teacher, and whatever Dharmas are his Dharmas, he is the teacher of those Dharmas. Therefore, his nature is the teacher himself. For this reason, the Blessed One is the Dharma, and therefore he is called the teacher of gods and humans. As for "completely and thoroughly comprehending all gatherings," all is the three aggregates of Dharma. All kinds are the kinds of good and non-good, and so on. Comprehending them by their very nature is called complete and thorough enlightenment. Because he has conquered all the hosts of demons and their retinues, he is the Blessed One. The statement that "only the Blessed One appears in all realms of the world" is the view of some other schools. In response to this, it is written, "Even in many eons, not a single Buddha will appear," and so on. The statement that "a continuum with many inherently afflictions and a continuum of perverse wisdom cannot realize the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment" means that because they are overwhelmed by afflictions and cognitive obscurations, it refers to Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. As for "inherently," and so on, the summarized meaning and order of the chapter on Bodhi have already been briefly shown here, so there is no need to show them again, and therefore it has not been written. From the position of the foundational yoga of the Bodhisattva's ground, the seventh division of the Bodhisattva's stages is complete. The summary verse is: Many faiths and seeking the Dharma and the teacher, practice and likewise, skillful instruction, subsequent teachings, and the actions of body, speech, and mind, and the latter with skillful means. This refers to the perspective of how to learn, and what the Bodhisattva should learn has already been shown before.
