This is the teaching called "Son." The pleasant sound of the Kalaviṅka is indeed pleasing to the ear. To be pleasing to the heart is to bring joy. If asked what is the complete manifestation of that speech, it is: melodious and pleasing, pleasing to the ear and clear in pronunciation, fluent and melodious, without discord, not dependent, and inexhaustible. It is clearly taught by the compiler that it is perfectly endowed with six qualities: by the melodious sound, by the excellence of the words, by its own meaning, by how appropriate it is, by being without confusion, and by being clear. Here, it should be understood that the sound is established in two ways: by filling the entire mandala of the retinue with a loud voice, and by the melodious tone. The words are excellent in two ways: by being definite words, and by being fluent. The rest is connected with each meaning, that is: by being worthy of listening, and by being in accordance with the retinue, as the power of guidance, and by the melodious tone, endowed with immeasurable courage. In the scriptures, it is the power of guiding to Nirvana, and the melodious tone, and the extremely definite words, and being perfectly in accordance with the meaning of the Dharma, and relying on the power of extreme joy, and those who are skilled in clarity. The condensed meaning of remembering past lives is: who remembers, what is remembered, and in what way it is remembered. Among them, who remembers is: a Bodhisattva, or another who is equal to a Bodhisattva, or by others who are endowed. What is remembered is: the Bodhisattva himself remembers his own or others' affairs, or others remember his own or others' affairs. In what ways, that is: subtle, or small, or many, or uninterrupted, or able to be measured, or unable to be measured, or immeasurable. The condensed meaning of these is: what is desired, how it is desired, and how much is desired. Among them, what is desired is: where my name is this, such as having the previous form, do you also want such things to happen? Subtle

Or, in an uninterrupted manner. What is meant by "how much is desired"? Is it to an immeasurable extent, or does it exist in countless ways? For what purpose? From the Jataka tales, it is repeatedly shown that the conduct of the Bodhisattva is like this, in order to generate great joy in the conduct of the Bodhisattva, and it is also shown to generate respect for the true and supreme conduct. In order to generate interest, various forms are shown, and those events that occurred in the past with virtue are also shown. What is meant by "starting from the ripening of the fruits of the karma of sentient beings" is that the karma that has been done and the karma that has been accumulated will definitely ripen into fruits. The summarized meaning of divine hearing is: what sound, what form of Dharma, for what purpose, etc. What is meant by "as it is" is that, from that sutra, it is said that I was born in such and such a place, my name is such and such, my race is such and such, my lineage is such and such, my food is like this, my lifespan is so long, I lived there for so long, and I experienced such happiness and suffering, etc. What are the forms of gods and humans? It is good speech and bad speech, supreme virtues or no virtues, small or large, meaningful or meaningless, having the distinction of magical powers, and long-lasting, etc. Therefore, by means of the pure divine ear realm, transcending the karma of humans, one hears this and that sound. The sounds of gods and humans, far and near, even the sounds of bees, flies, and deception are heard. The sutra says "knowing death and birth," so what is the knowledge of death and birth of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas? It refers to the Tathagata or Bodhisattva, by means of the pure divine eye, transcending the karma of humans, seeing sentient beings at the time of death and after death, and knowing well the sentient beings who are ugly and not ugly, evil and good, inferior and wealthy, and how they are born according to karma. How does one think?
