Is it the cause of obscuring existence itself? Or is it the cause of obscuring the fruit itself? They argue and contemplate with these and other questions. If existence itself is the cause of obscuration, then the cause is also existent, and existence would not be manifest at all times, which is unacceptable. The statement that the cause is also existent implies that it is also obscured, and therefore it should be made manifest, which is the intended meaning. Both of these assert that it is uncertain. Therefore, it is impossible to answer the non-obscuration itself. Is the dharma not different from that which is manifest from it, or do you consider it to be different? This statement indicates that one's own inference harms the previous commitment. If the cause is non-existent, then it is impossible for a non-existent cause to be made manifest, because the conditions are close, it would follow that it is a dharma that is manifest from the very beginning. If it is to make the fruit manifest, then because it is the fruit, it would be necessary to make the manifest manifest, and therefore other actions would be needed, which would be endless. If it makes something manifest from that which is not manifest, why not consider that the fruit also makes it manifest? That inference only speaks of harm. The non-existence of the non-existent itself is non-manifest, which means that if the fruit does not exist at the time of the cause, then it is simply non-existent. The existence of the existent itself is manifest, which refers to the time when the fruit arises. The name of sound is just as it is said, because there is no protection, destruction, change, etc., so it is regarded as eternally abiding. Alternatively, meaning, explanation, and terminology are all impermanent. Alternatively, speech makes the senses and objects manifest, which refers to what is said. The view of abiding, which means that the previous also considers the nature of sound to be only abiding. The distinction of manifestation here refers to the manifestation of fabrication that is spoken, the distinction is that. Who says that the past and future are substantially existent?

Just like this, here there are some ascetics or Brahmins, or some who hold this Dharma, who are called. Some who hold this Dharma are respected by all, and say that everything exists, such as the Vaibhashikas of the Sarvastivada school. The past also exists, and the future also exists. Just as it happens now, it is completely established through its own nature, it is substantially existent, and not nominally existent. Because it is not in accordance with the truth, those who speak in that way also exist. The explanation for this is that the past and the future are substantially existent, because they are completely established through their own nature, or because they are time, just like what happens now. Similar Dharma is explained like cotton cloth. They think like this, in whatever way Dharma and its own nature exist, that is completely established. Therefore, the non-establishment of the first reason is eliminated. If the future does not exist, then the word "at that time" refers to the future time. If one cannot grasp one's own nature, etc., then what the opponent wants is, how can it constitute a fault? They think like this, if in the future state, its nature does not exist, then in the present state, its nature will suddenly appear. Because the nature suddenly appears, it is imputed, therefore, volition, etc., must also be substantial. For the Dharma of the future state, one can only say form and sound, etc., because they are separated from their nature. If it is not a different nature, then the nature cannot be established in the three times. Because when changing in these times, there is not the slightest arising or ceasing, therefore, just like what happens now, in order to refute the future, this is contradictory. If it is nature because of being different, then it cannot be said to be a completely established nature. If it is only what can be grasped by the eyes, if it is not like that, because there is no other nature of form more than that, it cannot be said to be completely established, because it is not established.
