Those not blamed by the wise are giving, non-harming, and correct discipline; taming, serving parents, peacefulness, and celibacy are taught by the noble ones. If the wise can correctly see these places of teaching, they will become noble ones with complete vision. This is said to be the world. In accordance with these four ways taught by the wise, and promising to follow these four ways, they should be applied in order. Among them, promising to conform to all beings, "all beings" refers to all sentient beings, because the word "all" means "everything." Promising to conform to those worthy of gathering, "worthy of gathering" refers to those who abide in this discipline. The fruits such as having great enjoyment should be correspondingly applied in order to benefit, etc. Promising to conform to those who are equal, the final result is obtaining Nirvana, and going to happy realms, etc., should also correspond to the words spoken in the Sutras, "becoming a noble one with complete vision, that is the world." Therefore, those who attain Nirvana are noble ones with complete vision, and the rest are said to rely on the peace of the world. The wise consider the characteristics of the wise to be these three, etc., which, like the previous ones, are spoken from the scriptures belonging to the aggregate of discipline. In particular, being endowed with mindfulness and clear awareness, dwelling in secluded places such as under trees or in empty villages. There, sitting in the lotus position, having established mindfulness, and then sitting down. He abandons greed for the world and dwells in a vast state with a mind free from greed. Similarly, the five obscurations should also be spoken of in this way. He transcends ignorance, transcends doubt, has no doubt about virtuous dharmas, and completely purifies the doubt in his mind. Having abandoned the five obscurations, from being secluded from desires, he cultivates and abides in the four dhyanas.

Thus, as the mind is completely purified, and up to the realization of the four noble truths, based on this, one attains the exhaustion of defilements, as it is said. Among these, "perfectly taking virtue" refers to what is said as "ordaining." "Definitely in virtue" refers to what is said from "he has no doubt about virtuous dharmas" up to "cultivating and abiding in the four dhyanas." "Showing virtue" refers to what is said as "realizing the four noble truths." Thus, virtues each have their own unique characteristics. Furthermore, the "three" are also mentioned in the same sutra. These also correspond in order to ordination, the dhyanas, and the exhaustion of defilements. Some consider that these three come from the sutra that belongs only to the aggregate of morality, that is, it arises in conjunction with dhyana, it arises in conjunction with realization, and they are applied in order. What is it to say that the cause has the effect? That is, "Here, some ascetics or Brahmins, in constant time and steadfast steadfast time, think that there is only the effect in the cause, thus they see and thus they speak." Among them, "constant" means uninterrupted, such as "constantly giving food." "Steadfast" means without interruption, like birds. Also, "deliberation" means not previously existing, because it is the nature of abiding. "Steadfast" refers to the nature of imperishable dharma. The two phrases "constant time and steadfast time" are explanatory words for the former two. Alternatively, the four words "constant" and so on are because there is no separation, continuity, momentary destruction, and impermanence of change, and they are applied in order. To see in this way is because of the manifest attachment to the desired meaning. "Speaking thus" is because it is spoken to other beings as it is manifestly known. For example, like a gathering of cattle, it comes from the sutra, after which the Brahmin red child's body is ugly, the Blessed One.

Having approached the departed, he pleaded thus: 'O Gautama, for my disciples, those of the lineage of the supreme assembly, whatever exists, exists only; whatever does not exist, does not exist only; for what does not exist, there is no arising.' Saying thus, he elucidates. Why do they regard the fruit as existing in the cause, and distinguish and fully elucidate? 'Regarding' means holding one's own view as supreme. 'Distinguishing' means establishing treatises without contradicting terminology. 'Fully elucidating' means stating to others through reasons and so forth. Thus, it is done through scripture and reasoning. Scripture is hearing and recollection. Among them, recollection is said to be the single transmission of hearing. Hearing is the excellent and thorough exposition of treatises to the disciples, that is, in the manner of bestowing the Pitaka. What is reasoning? Like the Shramana or Brahmin, logician, this is indicated by category and characteristic. Among them, the category is called 'having speculation.' The characteristic is, like 'whatever is sought, that is also speculated,' for stating this situation, it does not become a similar state. 'The place of speculation' in logic refers to the state of not being in equipoise, and that is because there is no scripture, so it is said to arise from one's own courage. Because there is no speculation, it is called an ordinary being. Because it is clearly examined and established with reasonable reasoning, it is said to follow speculation. From which things do which things arise, those things are known as the cause of speech, and are applied, which refers to the detailed explanation of reasons. Those other than that are not, which refers to refutation. Therefore, concluding that 'the fruit exists in the cause' is the word of the proposition. Therefore, the opponent's statement is that the sprout exists in the seed because it is established as the cause of arising. Whatever does not have a sprout is not considered the cause of the sprout arising, just as knowledge exists. Like this,
