The so-called giver refers to the one who is called a giver because he has the nature of giving. The so-called impartial one refers to the one who gives to monks, Brahmins, and all beings. The so-called poverty reliever refers to the one who gives food and drink to those who lack food and drink, etc. The so-called knower of reality refers to the one who knows that the fruit of giving is enjoyment. The so-called characteristics of having morality are fourfold, which refers to the sutra belonging to the aggregate of morality, which says: 'What is the object of merit arising from morality?' It is widely proclaimed, and to put it briefly, if the teacher appears in the world and proclaims the Dharma, which is good from the beginning, then the householder or the son of the householder will listen to that Dharma. After hearing that Dharma, he will also gain great faith, even to the point of renouncing the world, even to the point of abandoning killing, etc. He possesses that aggregate of morality, closes the doors of the senses, guards his mindfulness and abides, etc. The fruit of that morality is the heavenly realm, even to the point of the sutra passage in between. The so-called desire refers to what is said, such as gaining great faith. The so-called pure reward refers to what is said, such as abandoning killing. The so-called non-constant practice refers to what is said, such as closing the doors of the senses, guarding mindfulness and abiding, etc. Because in his states of walking and dwelling, there is no occurrence of immoral conduct. The so-called knower of reality refers to the one who knows that the fruit of morality is the heavenly realm. The so-called characteristics of a meditator are also fourfold. For example, here, some people only cultivate a mind of loving-kindness, without hatred, without hostility, without harm, vast, becoming great, without duality, immeasurable, extremely cultivated, devoted to one direction, and universally practiced.

Abides. Similarly, the second, similarly, the third, similarly, the fourth, above and below, and directly, in all ways, this world endowed with all, with only a mind of loving-kindness, without rivalry, without harm, vast, becoming great, without duality, with immeasurable mind, pervading with faith, practicing and abiding. Its maturation is also the world of Brahma, this is a section of the sutra. Among them, "purity of intention" refers to the statement that there is only a mind of loving-kindness, without resentment, and so on. "Purity of close conduct" refers to what is said from "in one direction" to "in all ways, this world endowed with all, pervading with practice and abiding." "Purity of knowledge" refers to knowing that the maturation of the object of merit arising from cultivation is the world of Brahma. Now, with "giving food has six kinds" etc., the words spoken in the sutra about the object of merit arising from giving etc. are arranged separately. Here, these six kinds of food giving are sequentially associated with the six words such as the ascetics and the Brahmins. Harm has eight kinds, and these are also sequentially associated with the words such as food etc. Chewing and drinking are associated with the harm caused by eating bad food. Also, harm has six kinds, here, "co-born" refers to hunger and thirst, and to counteract them, food and drink are given. Similarly, "caused by being impoverished by desire" etc., are also sequentially associated one by one with the second word spoken in the sutra such as chewing etc. The opposite of this is benefit, benefit has six kinds, and these correspond to the appropriate content. That is, they are sequentially associated one by one with the four words spoken in the sutra such as food etc. The characteristics of unfriendliness are four,

The actions are the opposite of the four phrases such as "without singularity." Among them, "not abandoning the mind of anger" is the opposite of what is said as "without singularity." Having a loving heart is a word of teaching. The place that obstructs suffering in various ways is the opposite of what is said as "incomparable." Accomplishing unpleasantness and accomplishing uselessness, some say it refers to harm, and the opposite of this is what is said as "without harm." Some also say that in other sutras, the four immeasurables are said to be the objects of merit arising from cultivation. Therefore, their contradictory aspects are the four natures of friendship that are mentioned. They say that they should be connected in order. Accomplishing the happiness of resources is in the desire realm. Accomplishing happiness with joy refers to closely accomplishing happiness with joy from the second dhyana downwards. Accomplishing happiness without joy refers to what is above that. Here, the words of the sutra are also, with a mind of loving-kindness, one direction, and similarly four directions, above, below, directly to the middle, in all ways pervading this world with everything, cultivating and abiding, etc., is what is said. These four are what the wise have declared, and the explanation of this sutra is that the four that are promised to enter into agreement are these four, etc., which are mentioned in passing as objects of merit. Here, the sutra says that what the wise have declared, and what the noble ones have declared, and what the evil ones have declared, and what the wise have praised, and what the wise do not slander, are of four kinds. What are the four? Giving is what the wise have declared, and what the wise do not slander, etc. Not harming all sentient beings, and serving parents, and the objects of a monk who has renounced and taken full ordination in the well-spoken discipline, are what the wise have declared, and what the wise
