It suddenly enters, therefore it shows that there is no intention, etc., because the main cause of effort is intention. The so-called "familiar object" indicates that there is no memory and habit. Or, what has been experienced in the past, or what has been experienced once, is called unfamiliar. The so-called no intention, etc., to enter, is because these five respective certainties are bound to arise in the object of desire, etc. The manifestation of consciousness is said to come from nearby, because it does nothing other than touch things. Regarding the statement that it only focuses on the past, some say that the manifestation from nearby does not focus on the future, because it is familiar with hearing. Otherwise, consciousness will not arise there. For what has already happened, it is also not an object, because it arises through the senses such as the eyes, in respective self-awareness, etc., so there must be effort. Some also say that through the blessing of others, suddenly seeing the minds of others, etc., without intention, etc., also focuses on what has already happened, etc., so there is a manifestation from nearby, so this statement is not good. Some also say that the so-called only focusing on the past should be combined with the following text, although focusing on the past, but only focusing on the present object, meaning due to other reasons. The mind that arises after the five aggregates of consciousness, which seeks but is uncertain, some say that seeking is in the first cycle, and certainty is in the second cycle, etc. Some say that if this is the case, certainty will abandon the first cycle, therefore, the word "after" should be used to mean proximity. Some also say that the word "after" is only for the meaning of the seeker, and has no connection with certainty. If this is the case, there is no different result, otherwise, because there is no different arising, water...

Just like white mustard seeds. Or because there is any error, a special combination is made. Such a thing, called "merely having an object," means that for things similar to it, it is always thought that "that is it," so it is such a "merely." The word "merely," even if it also points to past things. Regarding this, consciousness is able to recognize the characteristics of all things, meaning that without classifying, consciousness is able to recognize the images of all objects without distinction. The so-called "it itself has not changed" means that consciousness enters that thing, relying on attention. The so-called "characteristics to be recognized" refers to which uncommon differences make the object become the object of consciousness. The so-called "that is recognized by attention" means that attention grasps that consciousness that should be recognized, and then focuses the mind on the appropriate thing. Describing the way of grasping in this way is for easier understanding, so it is analyzed in this way. Even at the same time, one should only observe that way. Monks such as Shengjie say that "attention does not exist at all," which is also unreasonable, because when focusing on other objects, its function can be seen. If they say that "the collection itself is functioning," that is correct, but even the collection itself cannot be without attention. The World Honored One himself also said, "If the attention related to this has not approached," etc., which has already answered this question. When explaining the ground of having the collection of five consciousnesses, it has also been shown as a different thing. Regarding "the awareness produced by contact is the characteristic of being lovely, unlovely, and the opposite of both," it means that the way of grasping the object as lovely, etc., is the nature of contact. Holding the differences of those things such as lovely as other, that is the holding of feeling, such as a diner holding the object as satisfactory, that is contact.

Yes. Just as being drawn by pleasant things leads to experiencing that state, that is the feeling arising from contact. The difference between the two lies in this. The venerable Paladhara and others say that consciousness itself is contact, which is also unreasonable, because it is said to arise together with it. Whatever is said to arise together with something is a different thing from it, for example, feeling is different from consciousness itself. Moreover, this is also because it is said that (contact) is a different food from consciousness, such as thinking about thoughts. Moreover, contact is existent, because it has an object, so it is established as a mental factor, such as attention. Its opposite is mindfulness, etc. Moreover, it is a mental factor together with feeling, such as thought. Its opposite is space. There is also scripture for this: Relying on the two, eye and form, mental phenomena arise, consciousness, contact, thought, perception, and the aggregates of action, all with causes, arise together. This is what is said in the sutra. The venerable Paladhara says this about that verse: There it is said that mental factors arise in sequence, either because of showing consciousness, or because without it they would not arise. Because it arises from it, so from eye and form arises the contact of consciousness. Then mental factors such as thought will also arise together. This is not right, because the Blessed One there clearly said that relying on two, mental factors arise, but did not say three. Therefore, it is completely wrong to fabricate and explain it as contact here. Showing consciousness, and that without it it would not arise, is also completely harmless, because I also say that without consciousness contact would not arise, so what would happen? Arising together, that is the scripture. The reasoning of the universal wanderers has already been stated in the case of having the five aggregates of consciousness. Honored by many noble ones
